About Phoenix Tailings
Phoenix Tailings is a rapidly growing clean mining and metals production startup focused on building a domestic supply of critical materials.
Our Freedom Facility in Rochester, New York will be a commercial-scale rare earth separation facility designed to expand U.S. capacity to process and separate rare earth materials.
Rare earths are essential inputs for many of the technologies that power modern life. They are used in high-performance permanent magnets found in electric vehicles, wind turbines, robotics, advanced electronics, aerospace systems, and defense applications.
Today, much of the world's rare earth processing and separation capacity is concentrated overseas. Building more of this capability in the United States is important for strengthening domestic supply chains, reducing reliance on foreign processing, and supporting the advanced manufacturing, energy, technology, and national-security industries that depend on these materials.
The Freedom Facility will be designed to produce thousands of tons of separated rare earth oxides annually, making Rochester an important part of Phoenix Tailings' expansion of domestic rare earth processing capacity.

Who We Are Looking For

Phoenix Tailings is looking for experienced operating leaders interested in future Shift Supervisor opportunities at our Rochester Freedom Facility.
Shift Supervisors will lead safe and orderly execution of the shift while maintaining visibility across the plant. They will inspect work, verify permits, monitor fatigue and operating hazards, and coordinate the crew.
This is an opportunity to help establish the working habits of a new operating team, with the judgment to stop unsafe work and keep the crew focused on safe execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate shift staffing, work assignments, and operating priorities while maintaining visibility across the plant and the condition of the crew
- Inspect plant work and verify permits, operating procedures, and required safeguards before and during permit-controlled activities
- Monitor fatigue, chemical hazards, and changing operating conditions, stopping unsafe work and coordinating the actions needed to resume safely
- Review shift performance and process deviations with operators, engineering, and maintenance, keeping technical process changes under appropriate engineering direction
- Lead shift handoffs and operator coaching, maintaining accurate records of production conditions, incidents, unresolved problems, and required follow-up
Qualifications:
- Experience leading operators or supervising work in chemical manufacturing, refining, metals, water treatment, or another continuous-process industrial environment
- Working knowledge of process equipment, chemical handling, operating procedures, and permit-controlled work, supported by relevant technical training or hands-on experience
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate crews, recognize fatigue and operating hazards, coach safe work practices, and stop work when conditions require it
- Ability to interpret production and downtime information, document shift events, and coordinate practical responses with engineering and maintenance teams

This pay range reflects best estimate for the total cash compensation which includes salary +
discretionary bonus for this role. Total package may vary based on experience and qualifications.
Pay Range: $105,00-$140,000 per year
