This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on EM design, thrives on hard physics problems, and wants to work closely with device, fabrication, packaging, and systems teams.\n Please include a cover letter with your resume (in one file) describing how you would be a great fit at Photonic and what attributes you could bring to our growing team.\nWHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO\nDesign and optimize on-chip and chip-scale RF structures, including transmission lines, resonators, and passive coupling structures\n Perform full-wave EM modeling (HFSS / CST / COMSOL or similar), including near-field analysis of fields delivered to target devices\nImprove RF power efficiency of control structures, balancing performance against fabrication constraints and yield\nEvaluate alternative architectures and heat-load tradeoffs at the chip, package, and cryogenic system level \nOwn simulation-to-measurement correlation, including cryogenic characterization, and iterate designs accordingly \nSupport impedance control, matching, and RF loss analysis at the chip and package level \nLead design reviews and produce clear technical documentation\nWHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM\nM.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with ~5+ years of RF or EM design experience (or B.Sc. with equivalent industry experience) \nStrong fundamentals in electromagnetics, transmission line theory, and impedance matching\nDeep hands-on experience with full-wave EM simulation (e.g., Ansys HFSS, CST, COMSOL) \nExperience designing RF structures on silicon, interposers, or thin-film substrates\nHands-on RF measurement and characterization (VNA, spectrum analyzer, S-parameter de-embedding) \nProven track record correlating simulation with measurement and closing the gap through design iteration \nScripting in Python or MATLAB for simulation automation and data analysis \nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nAn exceptional candidate will bring:\nExperience with cryogenic or low-temperature RF systems\nFamiliarity with superconducting or low-loss thin films and multilayer substrates \nExperience with quantum devices or spin/qubit control hardware \nAwareness of microfabrication processes and design-for-manufacturability \nExposure to startup or research-driven environments\nWHY YOU SHOULD WORK WITH US\nGet involved with a quantum startup company set to redefine computing\nWork closely with some of the brightest innovators in quantum technologies\nEnjoy a fast-paced and fun environment where you can try new things while solving innovative challenges every day\nInclusive company culture\nCompetitive salary, benefits (including life insurance, extended health, dental, long term disability, and a flexible spending account), and potential upside\n\nThe description above is what we think an ideal candidate would look like for this role.
