standards.Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.\nPrevious retail experience, preferably in a supervisory role.\nExperience in stock control, merchandising, and inventory management.\nGood communication and interpersonal skills.\nStrong leadership and team management abilities.\nBasic computer literacy and experience with retail systems.\nGood numerical and administrative skills.\nAbility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.\nStrong customer service and problem-solving skills.\nDepartment Operations\nOversee the daily operations of the General Merchandise Department.\nEnsure the department is clean, organised, and well presented.\nMonitor staff attendance, punctuality, and productivity.\nAllocate daily tasks and ensure that departmental duties are completed.\nStock Control and Inventory Management\nMonitor stock levels and ensure shelves are replenished regularly.\nConduct stock counts and investigate stock discrepancies.\nMonitor slow-moving, damaged, missing, and excess stock.\nEnsure proper receiving, storage, handling, and rotation of merchandise where applicable.\nFollow up on stock shortages and coordinate replenishment orders.\nMerchandising and Sales\nEnsure products are displayed according to Pick n Pay merchandising standards.\nCheck that shelf labels, promotional displays, and prices are correct.\nImplement promotional campaigns and seasonal displays.\nMonitor product availability and identify opportunities to improve sales.\nEnsure merchandise is attractively presented and easy for customers to locate.\nStaff Supervision and Development\nSupervise, guide, and motivate departmental employees.\nTrain staff on merchandising standards, customer service, and operational procedures.\nMonitor employee performance and provide feedback.\nAssist with resolving staff-related operational issues.\nPromote teamwork, discipline, and accountability.\nCustomer Service\nEnsure customers receive friendly, efficient, and professional service.\nHandle customer queries, complaints, and product-related concerns.\nAssist customers with product availability and enquiries.\nEscalate unresolved complaints to the appropriate manager.\nAdministration and Reporting\nPrepare and maintain departmental reports as required.\nMonitor sales performance, stock losses, and departmental targets.\nReport stock discrepancies, damaged goods, and operational challenges.\nEnsure accurate completion of stock control and merchandising documentation.\nHealth, Safety and Loss Prevention\nEnsure compliance with store safety, security, and loss-prevention procedures.\nMonitor potential theft, stock losses, and suspicious activities.\nEnsure aisles and displays remain safe and accessible.\nReport hazards,
