The auditor applies classification codes using NCCI, PAAS, and state-specific requirements, thoroughly documents findings, and prepares detailed audit worksheets.\nHow You’ll Do It\nCore Audit Execution\nConduct standard premium audits via mail, phone, and virtual platforms across routine industries and business types.\nReview and verify payroll records, tax returns, 1099s, and supporting financial documentation with meticulous attention to detail.\nAnalyze business operations to identify all relevant exposures and ensure proper policy coverage.\nIdentify and apply appropriate classification codes using NCCI guidelines, PAAS, and state-specific bureau requirements.\nDocument audit findings thoroughly and prepare detailed audit worksheets. \nEnsure all audit work complies with established business rules and regulatory guidelines.\nInsured Relationship Management & Communication\nCommunicate professionally with policyholders via phone, email, and virtual meetings to gather required documentation.\nConduct thorough interviews to understand business operations, employee roles, and exposure classifications.\nExplain audit processes clearly to insureds and address questions about documentation requirements.\nBuild positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries throughout the audit process.\nHandle initial concerns and questions about audit procedures (not billing-related issues).\nCoordinate schedules and follow up appropriately to ensure timely audit completion.\nVirtual & Technology-Enhanced Audit Capabilities\nConduct virtual audits using screen-sharing and remote access technologies.\nGuide insureds through document sharing and virtual collaboration platforms.\nUtilize emerging audit technologies and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.\nAdapt audit methodologies based on insured capabilities and preferences.\nMaintain security protocols for remote document review and virtual meetings.\nData Analysis & Classification Expertise\nAnalyze standard payroll structures, contractor relationships, and employee classifications.\nResearch and apply appropriate workers' compensation classification codes across multiple states.\nIdentify potential misclassifications and exposure gaps that could impact coverage.\nReview business operations for changes since policy inception that may affect classifications.\nEnsure proper documentation of all exposures for accurate premium calculations.\nQuality Assurance & Compliance\nEnsure all audit documentation meets regulatory standards and company policies.\nComplete audits within established timeframes while maintaining thoroughness.\nMaintain strict confidentiality of all insured information and business data.\nProcess Development & Continuous Improvement\nProvide regular feedback on audit procedures and technology effectiveness.\nSupport implementation of new audit technologies and methodologies.\nThe Right Stuff\nMinimum 1-2 years conducting Workers Compensation premium audits.\nWorking knowledge of NCCI classification systems and state bureau requirements.\nExperience working directly with business owners and financial personnel.\nMulti-state audit experience preferred.\nTechnical Competencies:\nStrong understanding of payroll systems, tax documentation, and business financial records.\nWorking proficiency with classification systems (NCCI, PAAS) and state-specific regulatory requirements.\nExperience with virtual meeting platforms and screen-sharing technologies.\nFoundational skills with audit software, Google Workspace applications, and emerging technologies.\nAbility to analyze standard business operations and identify relevant exposures.\nUnderstanding of contractor vs. employee relationships and classification implications.\nCommunication & Relationship Skills:\nExcellent verbal communication skills for professional phone and virtual interactions.\nSolid written communication abilities for follow-up correspondence and documentation.\nProven ability to explain standard audit concepts and routine requirements clearly to business owners.\nExperience building positive relationships with
