Working across a diverse portfolio of properties, you’ll be part of a team that values expertise, accountability, continuous improvement, and resident satisfaction.\nReporting to the Property Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for preserving the condition of our properties through preventative maintenance, repairs, renovations, and responsive residential service. This role is ideal for a proactive, solution-oriented professional who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is committed to maintaining properties to the highest standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nComplete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner.\nRespond to resident service requests and maintenance concerns within 24 hours, ensuring a high standard of customer service and regular communication with the Property Manager.\nPerform preventative maintenance tasks and follow established daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules.\nRepair, renovative, and prepare vacant and occupied residential units, as well as common areas.\nPerform minor plumbing and electrical repairs, including fixture replacement, basic troubleshooting, and general maintenance work.\nMaintain the cleanliness, appearance, and curb appeal of the property through activities such as litter collection, sweeping, lawn care, snow removal, and other exterior maintenance duties.\nMonitor and assist with operation of building systems, including electrical, mechanical, boiler, elevator, fire safety, sprinkler, and timer systems.\nParticipate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies as required.\nTravel between multiple properties within the portfolio to support operational needs. Approved car allowance compensation.\nCrucial Knowledge, Skills\nMust own personal cordless hand and power tools necessary to perform the duties of this role.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.\nWorking knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.\nExcellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.\nFamiliarity with building systems, including mechanical, electrical, boiler, elevator, and fire safety systems.\nKnowledge of Ontario residential tenancy legislation is considered an asset.\nAbility to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.\nFlexibility to participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hour emergencies.\nEducation & Experience Required\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\nMinimum of 2 years of residential maintenance, property maintenance, building operations or related experience.\nValid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and assess to a reliable vehicle.\nEligible to work in Canada and successfully pass a criminal background check.\nDemonstrated experience performing general repairs, preventative maintenance, renovations, and suite turnover work.\nKnowledge of applicable Ontario residential tenancy legislation and landlord-tenant relations is considered an asset.\nAdditional Details:\nCompetitive Salary Range: $45,000 - 65,000.\nWork Arrangement: Fully on-site, 5 days a week at our Cambridge, Kitchener, Guelph locations.\nComprehensive Total Rewards Package; Competitive compensation and benefits program.\nExtended Long Weekends: Enjoy regular 4-day long weekends throughout the year on every statutory holiday (on-call schedules will still apply).\nCompany Culture: Frequent team-building activities, social events, and employee celebrations.\nDiversity, Equity, and Inclusion\nAt Pier 4, we believe that diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds strengthen our team and drive better outcomes.
