Full-time faculty are expected not only to excel in classroom instruction but also to fulfill various responsibilities as active members of the college community. This individual will play a vital role in preparing students for entry-level nursing practice through high-quality instruction and mentoring in both the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) and the Bridge to ADN program. The faculty member will contribute to a dynamic and supportive learning environment by teaching in various settings, including clinical, classroom, skills lab, small group instruction, and simulation.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDevelop and deliver course content in accordance with the curriculum.\nPlan and conduct lectures, discussions, and laboratory sessions.\nAssess and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and projects.\nProvide constructive feedback to students to facilitate their academic progress.\nAdvise students on academic and career-related matters.\nMentor students in research projects, internships, and other academic pursuits.\nEngage in scholarly activities, research, and professional development.\nParticipate in departmental and institutional committees.\nContribute to the overall academic and administrative functions of the college.\nStay current with educational trends and methodologies.\nAttend workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.\nCollaborate with local community organizations and industry partners.\nEngage in student activities and other extra-curricular activities.\nParticipate in outreach activities and contribute to community development.\nUtilize technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience.\nIncorporate online resources and tools into course delivery where applicable.\nEnsure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.\nParticipate in assessment and evaluation processes to enhance program effectiveness.\nAssumes responsibility to stay abreast of current nursing practice to enhance knowledge and clinical expertise in areas/topics of assigned teaching responsibility.\nPresents curriculum defined theory supported by research and evidence-based practice.\nPresents theory in an organized, understandable manner including application activities and interactive learning strategies using assorted, appropriate teaching modalities.\nGuides students to develop critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills in the clinical/simulation setting.\nPromotes and guides students to develop and utilize the nursing process and clinical judgement through clear examples and feedback.\nProvides clinical/simulation learning activities utilizing a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to the environment, the learner, and course outcomes (sim/skills teaching).\nSupports the program and ACEN criterion to promote attainment of End of Program Student Learning Outcomes by appropriately formulating item questions for evaluation with correct categorization and matching student learning outcomes.\nAssists advisees and offers time and direction for those advisees requiring assistance in the attainment of learning outcomes to support the ACEN criterion.\nAssume other related responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of the School of Health Careers\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nPossess thorough and accurate knowledge of the nursing field, including the ability to evaluate and apply content.\nBe committed to professional development by keeping current in their respective discipline.\nHave and maintain faculty credentials as required by the college’s accrediting agencies.\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), five (5) years clinical nursing experience, and a passion for teaching is required.\nAn active, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in West Virginia or a West Virginia multistate license is required.\nA master’s degree in nursing and teaching experience is preferred.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nModerate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 40 pounds; standing, siting and/or walking for long periods. Travel required: some (less than 10%) out-of-state travel for related CWE conferences and professional development.
