We believe each of us is here to help others succeed and this has led to PIMCO being recognized as an innovator, industry thought leader and trusted advisor to our clients.\nLocation\nTokyo, Japan\nLevel\nSenior Associate/Manager/VP\nFunction\nCompliance\nFocus\nRegulatory Support, Compliance Advisory, AI & Technology Adoption, Process Innovation\nPosition Overview \nWe are seeking a highly motivated Compliance Officer to support a broad range of compliance activities across Japan, Regional, and Global Compliance functions while helping enhance efficiency and innovation through technology and AI-enabled solutions.\nThis role partners closely with Compliance, Legal, Operations, Technology, HR, and business stakeholders to support regulatory obligations, compliance initiatives, governance activities, and strategic projects.\nThe role combines two key areas of focus:\nSupporting compliance and regulatory activities across local, regional, and global compliance frameworks.\nEnhancing operational effectiveness through AI, automation, data analytics, and technology-enabled solutions.\nThe successful candidate will help strengthen compliance processes, improve scalability and efficiency, and support the firm's evolving business and regulatory requirements.\nThe ideal candidate is intellectually curious, technology-minded, and comfortable working across diverse compliance topics in a dynamic, globally integrated environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nCompliance & Regulatory Support\nSupport a broad range of compliance activities relating to PIMCO Japan's business, including regulatory obligations, compliance monitoring, governance, policies and procedures, training, and regulatory examinations.\nMonitor and assess regulatory developments and business initiatives, and support the implementation of appropriate compliance requirements.\nCollaborate with Japan, Regional, and Global Compliance teams, as well as Legal, Operations, Technology, HR, and business stakeholders.\nAssist with regulatory filings, management reporting, compliance reviews, and other compliance-related projects and initiatives.\nAI, Technology & Process Innovation\nIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability through technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions.\nLeverage AI tools, data analytics, and workflow technologies to enhance compliance processes, reporting, documentation, and knowledge management.\nSupport the evaluation, implementation, and governance of new technologies and AI-related initiatives within Compliance.\nDevelop dashboards, management information, and data-driven insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement.\nBasic Qualifications\nExperience\nPosition level (Senior Associate, Manager, or VP) will be determined based on the candidate's depth and breadth of experience in one or more of the following areas:\nCompliance, legal, operations, internal audit, internal controls, business management, process improvement, project management, technology enablement, or transformation initiatives.\nExperience within an asset management firm, financial institution, professional services firm, consulting organization, or technology-enabled environment is preferred.\nFor entry-level candidates, including recent graduates, second-career graduates, and interns, prior professional experience is not required.
