This role is designed to build a strong foundation in security operations, giving the analyst hands-on exposure to threat detection, incident response, and enterprise security tooling.\nThe Operations team gives analysts access to powerful AI models purpose-built for cyber work - tools that accelerate investigation, surface relevant context, and compress the learning curve for new analysts. Candidates should expect to use AI tooling from day one as a core part of how the team investigates, learns, and responds, not as an optional add-on.\nThe ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to build technical depth across cybersecurity platforms, policies, and procedures. They will learn to assess evidence, triage alerts, and escalate significant events to Engineers and Incident Responders, while progressively taking on greater ownership of the incident lifecycle.\nBeyond incident response, the analyst will rotate through a variety of SOC workflows - event monitoring, correlation, and behavioral analysis - gaining broad exposure that supports growth into more senior analyst or engineering roles.\nKey Responsibilities\nIncident Response & Threat Detection\nRespond to Cyber incidents with increasing independence, applying documented playbooks and escalation procedures.\nInvestigate and triage security alerts, correlating data across multiple tools to determine scope and severity.\nUse AI-assisted investigation tools to accelerate triage, enrich context, and identify patterns across incidents.\nEscalate significant or ambiguous events to senior Engineers and Incident Responders with clear, well-documented findings.\nAI-Accelerated Learning & Response\nLeverage the team's AI models as a primary learning tool - using them to research unfamiliar threats, understand tooling, and build technical depth faster than traditional self-study alone.\nApply AI tooling directly to response work: drafting investigation notes, summarizing log data, and accelerating root-cause analysis.\nIdentify repetitive or manual tasks on the team and use AI tooling to automate or streamline them, actively working to reduce the operational load carried by the Operations team.\nDocument and share effective AI-assisted workflows and prompts with teammates to raise the bar for the whole team.\nSecurity Operations & Monitoring\nPerform continuous monitoring of security events, logs, and behavioral indicators across the environment.\nSupport Phishing Email Response, including analysis, remediation, and user follow-up.\nContribute to and maintain runbooks, knowledge-base articles, and standard operating procedures.\nStakeholder Communication & Support\nProvide customer-facing support for Cyber-related questions and issues via email and messaging platforms.\nPromote good personal and professional cybersecurity hygiene through regular engagement with staff.\nSet and manage expectations with supervisory staff by establishing reasonable timelines and providing milestone updates.\nWorkflow & Professional Development\nManage and prioritize multiple concurrent workstreams in a fast-paced environment.\nActively pursue relevant certifications and stay current on emerging cyber threats and industry trends.\nParticipate in team knowledge-sharing sessions and post-incident reviews to build institutional knowledge.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.\nStrong organizational skills and self-sufficiency; able to operate with minimal supervision during active events.\nWorking knowledge of core cybersecurity toolsets: Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), Email Security Gateway, SIEM, Vulnerability Management, Identity & Access Management, and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB).\nGenuine enthusiasm for using AI tools (e.g., LLM-based assistants, AI-driven investigation platforms) as a core part of daily workflow - comfort experimenting with and adopting new AI tooling quickly.\nAbility to spot manual, repetitive work and a natural inclination to automate it rather than absorb it as routine toil.\nAbility to remain composed and effective under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.\nStrong attention to detail with an analytical mindset and demonstrated problem-solving ability.\nGenuine interest in cybersecurity trends and a commitment to continuous learning.\nPreferred / Desirable Certifications\nCompTIA: Security+, CySA+\n(ISC)²: SSCP, CCSP\nGIAC: GSEC, GISF, GCIH\nCloud vendor security fundamentals (e.g., Microsoft SC-900, AWS Security Fundamentals)\nPrior hands-on experience with AI/LLM tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) for research, writing, or automation\nAdditional Notes\nThis role is part of a structured graduate development track. Given the accelerating effect of the team's AI tooling on ramp-up, analysts are expected to progress toward greater autonomy within 6-12 months and toward specialization within 12-18 months.\nPIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus.
