As a member of PIMCO’s Enterprise Risk and Quality Management (ERQM) team, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of establishing and maintaining effective risk oversight programs for alternative investment operations. The role will be responsible for maturing operational risk management practices while overseeing adherence to PIMCO’s risk management framework. Key activities include: ongoing risk assessment and risk monitoring, active engagement in issues management and resolution, identification of incident root cause and corrective actions, and providing related updates and risk trends to senior stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Risk Governance and Framework Management

  • Maintain and enhance the enterprise risk management framework across alternative investment strategies and support functions.

  • Ensure alignment of risk management practices with the firm's risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Develop and maintain operational risk policies, standards, procedures, and risk taxonomies.

  • Support governance committees through preparation of risk reports, metrics, and management information

Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs)

  • Facilitate and challenge business-owned RCSAs across investment, operations, technology, finance, legal, compliance, and third-party service provider functions.

  • Evaluate the design and effectiveness of key controls.

  • Identify control gaps, emerging risks, and process weaknesses.

  • Track remediation plans and verify completion of corrective actions.

Risk Event Management

  • Manage the collection, investigation, classification, and reporting of operational risk incidents and near misses.

  • Conduct root cause analyses and identify recurring control deficiencies.

  • Monitor trends and recommend risk mitigation strategies.

Risk Reporting and Analytics

  • Develop and maintain key risk indicators (KRIs), key control indicators (KCIs), and operational risk dashboards.

  • Analyze risk trends and produce executive-level reporting.

  • Present significant events and recommendations for control enhancements to internal executive stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate degree required; additional degrees and/or certifications such as MBA, CFA, FRM, or CAIA are a plus.

  • Minimum of seven years of experience in alternatives investment management, including operational knowledge of private equity, private debt, structured finance and real estate.

  • Complementary experience in a similar risk management role is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize deliverables efficiently and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to influence senior leaders.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, complemented by an inquisitive nature and comfort in challenging current practices.

  • Advanced IT and analytics skills, including leverage of AI as a tool to drive efficiency.

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.

Salary Range: $ 250,000.00 - $ 305,000.00
