This role will translate mission, security, interoperability, availability, and recovery requirements into scalable architectures and technical roadmaps that support secure 24/7 operations, resilient infrastructure, and successful disaster recovery and COOP execution.\nResponsibilities\nTypical Responsibilities/Tasks:\nDevelop and maintain enterprise and system architecture recommendations spanning ESXi hosts, virtual machines/appliances, Red Hat OpenShift, VDI, Windows/Linux platforms, storage, applications, backup/recovery, and supporting infrastructure dependencies.\nPerform system analysis and design and provide architecture guidance for establishing and sustaining virtual infrastructure and highly available enterprise services.\nArchitect scalable backup and recovery solutions compatible with Linux NFS, Windows SMB, the existing Enterprise SAN, Cohesity, Dell PowerProtect Data Manager, VMware Replication, and vSAN environments.\nDefine integration patterns for policy-driven protection and recovery services, including vProxy, DD Boost, NDMP, REST APIs, S3-compatible object storage, VMware vCenter/vSphere, and application-aware protection for platforms such as SQL Server.\nEstablish architecture approaches that support defined Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs), Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), service-level expectations, enterprise growth, and long-term retention requirements.\nLead or support Business Impact Analysis, risk management, contingency planning, continuity planning, and disaster-recovery architecture recommendations across the enterprise.\nRecommend high-availability and redundancy strategies appropriate to system impact levels, including load balancing, data mirroring, replication, and recovery/restoration approaches.\nSupport development, review, testing, and continuous improvement of contingency, business continuity, disaster recovery, and COOP reconstitution plans; document findings and recommendations in required technical products.\nEnsure architecture recommendations align with applicable Army IM&T and cybersecurity standards and contingency guidance, including AR 25-1, AR 25-2, AR 500-3, and applicable NIST guidance.\nRequired Qualifications\nDemonstrated enterprise architecture or senior systems engineering experience in mission-critical IT environments requiring high availability and 24/7 operational support.\nStrong architecture knowledge of VMware ESXi/vCenter/vSphere/vSAN, virtual machines, VDI, Windows Server, Linux/RHEL, and container or OpenShift platforms.\nExperience designing enterprise storage, SAN, backup, replication, recovery, and long-term retention solutions across physical and virtual workloads.\nHands-on knowledge of enterprise backup/recovery platforms such as Cohesity and Dell PowerProtect Data Manager, including interoperability with NFS, SMB, vProxy, DD Boost, NDMP, REST, S3-compatible storage, and application-aware agents.\nExperience defining and validating RPO/RTO targets, high-availability patterns, redundancy, failover, restoration testing, and disaster-recovery/COOP capabilities.\nAbility to produce architecture diagrams, technical recommendations, standards, roadmaps, and decision support for Government technical leaders and cross-functional teams.\nWorking knowledge of Army/DoD security, continuity, and system-management requirements applicable to enterprise infrastructure.\nSECRET security clearance.\nDesired Qualifications\nTOGAF, DoDAF, or comparable enterprise architecture experience or certification.\nVMware VCP/VCAP, Red Hat, storage, or enterprise backup/recovery certifications.\nExperience supporting Army/DoD continuity planning, Business Impact Analysis, disaster-recovery testing, and COOP reconstitution.\nExperience architecting infrastructure across classified and unclassified environments.\nAbout PingWind\nPingWind is focused on delivering outstanding services to the federal government.
