This key member of the Management team develops departmental strategies and site strategies, sets goals, drives improvements, develops processes and systems that enhance safety, and continuously improves the safety and environmental metrics across both Washington sites. The EHS Manager is a key member of the site Management team that learns the processes and work flows and helps the rest of the Management team drive all site goals to safely deliver quality product to our customers.\n\nResponsibilities:\nFollow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, safety policies and practices, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).\nResponsible at all times for ensuring that tasks are performed according to food safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines. \nPromote a safe culture and awareness within their area at all times.\nDevelop practical safety programs that are applicable to the different work areas.\nIs on-call and available for off-hour calls and responses.\nManage and implement Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.\nMaintain a working knowledge of the environmental & safety regulations and standards.\nMaintain and improve the environmental & safety programs for the facility.\nEnsure that all environmental permits are maintained, and regulatory reports are submitted accurately and on-time. .\nOversee the implementation of the TCPA and DPCC environmental programs.\nEnsure appropriate environmental and safety training is completed, relevant to the work environment, including new employees.\nEnsure effective safety committees.\nSet departmental goals and site safety/environmental goals and drives the EHS team and site to achieve the goals. \nIn conjunction with plant Human Resources, oversee the accurate and timely reporting of labor hours and injury/illness information.\nWork with plant Human Resources to coordinate the dissemination of Right to Know information for all employees.\nEstablish the facility’s first aid capabilities if appropriate or EMT service if remote.\nMonitor the effectiveness of procedures for correcting hazardous conditions and work practices.\nWork with department supervision to conduct accident investigations in a thorough and timely manner.\nAssist the Human Resources department on workers’ compensation claims management.\nConduct frequent plant safety inspections and observe workers for safe and unsafe behaviors.\nEnsure compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. \nPerform other related duties as assigned and required.\n\n Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering, health & safety or related course of study is required.\nAn experience level of five (5) to ten (10) years working in a similar capacity within a manufacturing environment or the equivalent combination of experience (in a manufacturing or sanitation environment) and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skill, and abilities needed to perform the job required. \n\nKey Competencies & Attributes:\nThe ability to read, write, and communicate in English. \nDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of the organization.\nAbility to work under time restrains and be result driven.\nAbility to organize, classify, and structure multiple pieces of information accurately. \nExcellent organizational and follow-up skills, competent in problem solving, team building, and planning.\nA clear understanding of federal and state environmental regulations and OSHA standards and guidelines and ability to apply to a manufacturing environment.\nKnowledge of worker’s compensation guidelines and procedures.\nWorking knowledge of the Department of Transportation regulations.\nStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.\nKnowledge of and a good understanding of 21 CFR 110, 21 CFR 111, ANSI 173-2005, and the USP Dietary Supplement GMP Requirements.\nAbility to maintain punctuality and predictable attendance.\n\nWorking Conditions:\nMust wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clean room attire.\nModerate physical activity, requires standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day and up to twelve (12) hours per shift.\nMust be able to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds.\nMust be able to perform work onsite and be comfortable in a light industrial environment, including some exposure to non-toxic
