Our global studios contribute what makes them exceptional, and Pitch Black scales that impact across the network.\nJoin us and become part of our powerhouse of award-winning creative brands and industry-leading talent.\n FOLKS is looking for an FX Supervisor with strong artistic vision, technical excellence and proven experience leading visual effects teams on high-end film, television and/or streaming productions.\nYou will oversee the creation and delivery of 3D effects-including particles, fire, smoke, fluids, destruction, lighting and other simulations-ensuring every shot meets the creative vision, quality standards and production deadlines.\nResponsibilities\nLead the FX team, providing artistic direction, creative support and technical guidance throughout production.\nCreate and develop high-quality 3D visual effects in Houdini, including particle, fire, smoke, fluid, destruction, lighting and other simulations as required by each project.\nTranslate client references and creative requirements into imaginative, efficient and technically sound visual solutions.\nReview and approve FX department deliverables from both an artistic and technical perspective.\nOrganize the team’s work, assign tasks, monitor progress and ensure priorities, deadlines and quality standards are met.\nCollaborate closely with CG Supervisors, VFX Supervisors, CG Artists, DMP, Lighting, Compositing, Production and other departments.\nEnsure smooth communication and effective handover of shots and sequences between FX and other CG departments.\nParticipate in dailies, production meetings and client sessions, communicating clear and actionable information to the team.\nContribute to the development and improvement of tools, processes and workflows that optimize FX production.\nOversee shot rendering when needed and ensure rendered imagery meets quality expectations.\nIdentify department resourcing needs and support the recruitment and selection of FX artists.\nTrain, support and mentor artists, particularly in Houdini and FX pipeline best practices.\nStay current with industry technologies and techniques, sharing knowledge and driving innovation within the team.\nEnsure FX technical direction work is delivered on time, within budget and to the quality expected by FOLKS and its clients.\nCarry out other duties related to the position as assigned by your manager.\n Extensive experience as an FX Supervisor, FX Lead or in a senior FX role within high-end VFX productions.\nDemonstrated experience leading FX teams on complex projects.\nExpert-level proficiency in Houdini for simulations, caches and FX development.\nStrong knowledge of Maya, Nuke, Katana and Unreal.\nExperience with particle, fluid, fire, smoke, destruction and other 3D FX simulation techniques.\nStrong scripting skills in VEX, Python and C++ for tool development and workflow automation.\nExcellent artistic judgment, attention to detail and ability to solve creative and technical challenges.\nClear and effective communication skills with both internal teams and clients.\nAbility to lead diverse teams, potentially across multiple time zones.\nAbility to remain calm, prioritize effectively and make sound decisions in fast-paced production environments.\nNice to Have\nExperience supervising multiple shows simultaneously.\nEstablished relationships with clients, studios and vendors.\nA track record of innovation in tools, techniques and workflows.\nExperience working in international, collaborative environments.\n Need Accommodation?\nWe are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment experience.\nPrivacy Notice\nYour personal information will be collected, used, and stored for recruitment purposes in accordance with applicable privacy laws.\nPitch Black is an Equal Opportunity Employer\nAt Pitch Black, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
