50%\nMonitors, approves, and deploys Windows Updates to our internal WSUS server for application to campus servers and workstations \nCreates and maintains “Gold Images” or Templates for rapid deployment of base Windows server virtual machines \nDeploys, configures, updates, and monitors various physical and virtual Windows servers \nDeploys, configures, updates, and monitors various Systems or Application software components running on Windows (Active Directory Domain Controllers, IIS, SQL, Threat Analytics, 3rd party apps, etc.) \nServes as a backup administrator for servers using other operating systems (i.e. Linux) \nDesigns, deploys, and assigns Active Directory group policy objects to computers and/or users in our A/D domain \nDeploys, configures, updates, and monitors systems that deliver remote access to faculty, staff, and students (Software2, VMWare Horizon, Parallels RAS, Citrix, Terminal Services, etc.) \nObtains, formats, deploys, and replaces server SSL certificates \nSets appropriate Access Control to protect systems and data from unauthorized access or use \nMonitors, maintains, and updates our local Active Directory domain controllers, Forests, Domains, and Sites and keep A/D up to date and running smoothly \nMonitors and maintains university VMware infrastructure, serving as primary backup to the lead Administrator \nApplications and Off-site (Cloud) Services Administration - 15%\nConfigures, monitors, and maintains PSU’s “Office 365” instance as a Global Administrator \nConfigures global settings for various Office applications \nMaintains security profile settings for users and other administrators \nTroubleshoots operational issues with Office 365 components \nServes as backup e-mail administrator for Office 365 Exchange component \nRecommends deployment of new tools or re-configures existing ones to improve reliability, useability, functionality, or security \nKeeps abreast of changes Microsoft may make to the Office 365 environment \nWorks with campus “customers” and with vendors to configure, maintain, and upgrade various 3rd party applications hosted locally on PSU virtual or physical servers \nInteracts with our virtual machine hypervisor environment (currently VMWare) to deploy, remove, maintain, monitor, and update various virtual machines and virtual appliances \nDatacenter and Infrastructure Management and Administration - 15%\nMonitors datacenter environment using regular in-person inspection and remote monitoring tools to ensure critical systems are functional and the environment is safe \nMonitors datacenter health using management tools and responds to issues as they arise \nBuilds, tests, and deploys new datacenter components (physical servers, storage devices, etc…) as needed \nImproves and maintains datacenter organization and documentation according to industry best practices \nEnterprise Backup Administration - 15%\nDesigns, deploys, configures, and monitors appropriate traditional Enterprise Backup methods to protect our data and servers \nAssures backup schedules are defined and running properly \nMonitors consumed backup space \nAssures secondary backup copies are being made properly after each primary backup \nAdds/removes backup source devices or virtual machines as they come and go \nPerforms regular “test” restorations of backed up data \nUpgrades/modifies/replaces backup solution as needed \nRecommends improvements to our backup strategy as technology evolves \nOther Duties - 5%\nWorks with other members of our small ITS team on projects or activities not normally in your area of responsibility when the need arises \nOther duties as assigned by your supervisor \nEducation and Experience\nRequired Education and Experience - Time of Hire\nHigh school diploma \nFour years of experience in I.T. \nPrevious experience must demonstrate initiative, responsibility, professional growth, and problem solving in addition to core technical competencies \nKnowledge of and experience with industry standard security practices in an I.T. environment \nPreferred Education and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in computer information systems, computer science, or a related field \nThree years of experience in Windows systems administration, Active Directory, and related technologies \nTwo years of experience working with an I.T. team in an Enterprise environment \nExperience managing and monitoring Enterprise I.T. systems \nA demonstrable breadth and depth of competencies across a wide technical spectrum \nScreening Services (Background Checks): Your employment with Pittsburg State University is contingent on a satisfactory criminal background and sex offender check.\nSalary Range: $62,500.00 -
