You'll work across our React and React Native applications, Node.js backend, APIs and PostgreSQL database. This isn't a role where frontend and backend work are passed between separate teams. We want someone comfortable understanding a problem, designing a solution and building it across the stack. You'll work closely with our CTO, product team and other engineers to build software used by biochar producers operating in real-world and often challenging environments around the world.\n\nResponsibilities: \nBuild new product features from concept through production.\nDevelop web applications using React and TypeScript.\nDevelop and maintain our React Native / Expo mobile application.\nBuild and extend backend services and APIs using Node.js / TypeScript.\nWork directly with PostgreSQL, including schema changes and SQL queries.\nBuild reliable data workflows between mobile applications, APIs and backend systems.\nDesign software that works effectively in low-connectivity and offline environments.\nIntegrate external APIs and services.\nWrite automated tests and participate in code reviews.\nDiagnose and resolve issues across frontend, backend and database layers.\nCollaborate directly with product and engineering leadership on product decisions.\nTake ownership of features after they reach production.\n\nRequirements: \n4+ years of professional software engineering experience.\nStrong TypeScript / JavaScript experience.\nStrong React experience.\nExperience building backend applications or APIs with Node.js .\nGood PostgreSQL and SQL skills.\nExperience building complete features across frontend and backend.\nExperience working with REST APIs and external integrations.\nComfortable debugging problems across multiple parts of an application.\nStrong understanding of Git, testing and modern software development practices.\nComfortable working independently and taking ownership of features.\nStrong written and spoken English.\n\nNice to Have: \nReact Native / Expo experience.\nExperience building offline-first applications.\nAWS and Docker experience.\nPostGIS or geospatial experience.\nExperience with IoT or sensor data.\nExperience with data visualisation.\nExperience working in a startup or
