This is not a traditional DevOps role, nor is it a frontend-heavy full-stack position. You'll build product features across our backend and frontend, work directly with PostgreSQL and our APIs, and help own the AWS infrastructure those applications run on. You should be comfortable moving between writing application code, designing a database change, deploying a service, investigating production issues and improving the reliability of the platform. You'll work closely with our CTO and product team and will have significant influence over how the platform evolves.\n\nResponsibilities: \nBuild and maintain backend services and APIs using TypeScript / Node.js .\nDevelop features across our web and mobile applications.\nDesign and optimise PostgreSQL schemas, queries and data workflows.\nOperate and improve our production infrastructure on AWS.\nManage containerised services using Docker and ECS.\nBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines.\nImprove monitoring, logging, alerting and application observability.\nDiagnose production issues across application, database and infrastructure layers.\nDesign integrations with external platforms and APIs.\nImprove platform reliability, security and performance.\nReview code and help establish strong engineering practices.\nWork directly with product and engineering leadership to turn requirements into pragmatic technical solutions.\n\nRequirements: \n6+ years of professional software engineering experience.\nStrong TypeScript / JavaScript and Node.js experience.\nStrong PostgreSQL and SQL skills.\nExperience building and maintaining production APIs.\nExperience deploying and operating applications on AWS.\nStrong understanding of Docker and containerised applications.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines.\nAbility to diagnose production issues across application, database and infrastructure layers.\nComfortable taking ownership of systems rather than handing problems to another team.\nStrong written and spoken English.\n\nNice to Have: \nReact or React Native experience.\nAWS ECS / Fargate experience.\nTerraform, CDK or other Infrastructure-as-Code experience.\nPostGIS or geospatial data experience.\nExperience building offline-first mobile applications.\nExperience with IoT or high-volume sensor data.\nExperience with monitoring and observability platforms.\nExperience working in a startup or small engineering team.\n\nApplication:
