We are looking for an individual who can contribute deep technical expertise across frontend and backend systems and provide mentorship to ensure adherence to engineering best practices. \nThe GMS App Team is responsible for providing a customized application for Defense & Intelligence customers from around the world. This application provides daily, near-real time monitoring and analytic insights on customer-defined sites built atop Planet's satellite data.\nThis is a full-time, remote position based in the United States. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week.\nImpact You'll Own:\nDesign and implement features across the full stack, from user interface through API and data layers.\nDevelop and maintain applications using React, TypeScript, and Python.\nBuild and evolve the APIs and services that power the application, including data access and integration with upstream geospatial systems.\nMentor other engineers through code reviews and technical discussions.\nDrive architectural decisions spanning frontend and backend, including component design, state management, API contracts, and service boundaries.\nOwn features end to end, including deployment, observability, and production support.\nCollaborate with product managers and designers to deliver solutions.\nWhat You Bring:\n10+ years of relevant work experience building and operating web applications end to end.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or other relevant field.\nProficiency with React, TypeScript, and component-based frontend architecture.\nProficiency with a server-side language such as Python or Go.\nExperience designing, building, and operating backend services and REST APIs in production.\nWorking knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and query performance.\nExperience defining API contracts and integrating frontend and backend systems.\nAbility to lead feature implementation from discovery through deployment and production support.\nAbility to improve team capabilities through code reviews and knowledge sharing.\nExperience mentoring teammates on engineering best practices.\nProfessional working proficiency in English, the language of the company.\nWhat Makes You Stand Out:\nExperience with mapping libraries, geospatial data pipelines, or data visualization tools.\nExperience with containerized deployments, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.\nExperience with modern testing frameworks and CI/CD practices and leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity.\nBackground in geospatial technologies, remote sensing, or the defense and intelligence sector\nApplication Deadline:\n11:45pm PT on the date stated below.
