In this role, you'll be a key member of our Marketing team, translating complex technical concepts into compelling visual stories that resonate with developers and technical decision-makers. You'll craft everything from in-person event experiences to web graphics, merch designs, and creative website assets that make databases feel exciting.\nWhat's the job to be done?\nVisual Brand Development\nDesign web graphics including technical diagrams, illustrations, and interactive visual assets that simplify complex database concepts.\nCreate compelling visual systems for campaigns, product launches, and marketing initiatives.\nDesign for multiple formats and contexts: digital, print, experiential, and merchandise.\nIn-Person Experiences\nDesign booth graphics, signage, and environmental branding for conferences, meetups, and community events.\nCollaborate with the events team to create memorable, on-brand experiences that stand out\nDesign merch that developers actually want to wear and use.\nCreate branded collateral including banners, posters, stickers, and promotional materials.\nWebsite and Digital Assets\nDesign creative website components and landing pages.\nDesign data visualizations and technical diagrams that make complex information accessible.\nCreate social media graphics, blog post imagery, and other digital marketing assets.\nDevelop templates and design systems that enable the team to move quickly.\nBrand Evolution\nCollaborate with marketing leadership to evolve and expand the PlanetScale brand identity.\nExplore new visual directions while maintaining brand coherence.\nDocument design decisions and maintain brand guidelines.\nThese attributes best describe you.\nA strong portfolio demonstrating versatile design skills across digital, print, and experiential design.\nDeep understanding of design fundamentals: typography, color, composition, and visual hierarchy.\nYou've figured out where AI actually helps in a design workflow and built process around it.\nComfortable working in both brand and production modes.
