Our employees in 50 countries worldwide - all working with passion to enable high-tech applications with our strong metals: tungsten and molybdenum.\nAt our Plansee site in Franklin, USA, we specialize in transforming semi-finished molybdenum and tungsten products into complex components-leveraging decades of precision manufacturing and engineering excellence.\nJoin a highly motivated team in Franklin, USA, where local expertise meets the global knowledge and values of the Plansee Group.\nPosition type: ExemptResponsibilities\nInspection Planning & Control\nDevelop and maintain risk-based Inspection Plans / Inspection Control Plans (ICPs) covering incoming, in-process, final, and special inspections.\nDefine inspection points, sampling plans, inspection frequency, and acceptance criteria aligned to customer, drawing, and AS9100 requirements.\nConfigure/maintain inspection characteristics, routings, and quality records in SAP or quality planning systems.\nInterpretation of Engineering & Customer Requirements\nTranslate engineering drawings, models, specifications, and notes into measurable inspection requirements.\nIdentify and control Key Characteristics (KCs), Safety Characteristics (SCs) and critical items; coordinate with Engineering to resolve ambiguities or conflicts.\nMeasurement & Test Methods\nSelect appropriate measurement methods (e.g., precision hand tools, CMM/optical) suitable for feature types and tolerances.\nDefine verification steps, fixtures, and test sequences; align with industry and customer standards. \nGage & Metrology Coordination\nIdentify required gages/fixtures for each plan and ensure availability, capability, and calibration in coordination with Metrology/Calibration.\nAdvise inspectors on proper tool selection, usage, and care.\nSupplier & Incoming Inspection Support\nDefine incoming inspection requirements and special verifications; align supplier expectations with internal requirements.\nFirst Article Inspection (FAI )\nPrepare/support AS9102 FAI packages, ensuring all drawing characteristics are accounted for and sequenced for verification.\nEnsure changes trigger partial or full FAI re-accomplishment as required.\nSupport AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) planning and source inspection when required.\nDocumentation & Record Control\nCreate and maintain revision-controlled inspection plans, check sheets, visual work instructions, and quality alerts accessible at point of use.\nEnsure documentation is auditable and supports production readiness and compliance.\nCross-Functional Collaboration & Training\nPartner with QC Inspectors, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Program Management to align requirements and schedules.\nSystems & Tools\nUse SAP and digital inspection planning tools to manage inspection data, notifications, and routings; leverage SPC/analysis tools when applicable.\nQualifications / Skills - Required\n5+ years in manufacturing/quality environments within cross-functional teams.\nStrong GD&T interpretation and ability to translate requirements into clear inspection criteria.\nHands-on experience with precision measurement tools; exposure to CMM or optical inspection.\nExperience with SAP for inspection planning, routings, and quality notifications; proficiency with Microsoft Office and ballooning/inspection planning software.\nKnowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards and inspection procedures/SOPs; familiarity with NCR/containment processes.\nExceptional organizational and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively at all levels.\nU.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident; familiarity with ITAR.\nPreferred\nExperience in fast-paced or multi-shift operations and NPI launches.\nAPQP exposure (Control Plans, PFMEA, PPAP).\nExperience with SPC/capability analysis tools (e.g., Minitab/Excel).\nAssociate’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or related technical discipline.\nKey Competencies\nAttention to detail and accuracy\nClear communication and training capability\nProblem-solving and analytical mindset\nCollaborative, service-oriented approach with QA/Production/Engineering\nOwnership, accountability, and continuous improvement focus\nConfidence supporting inspectors and resolving technical questions\nThe base compensation range for this position is between 75-95k annually, commensurate with skill and experience level.
