You’ll be embedded on a strategic engagement with an enterprise financial-services client that is migrating its platform to AWS cloud services - an exciting opportunity to work on challenging, high-impact projects, contribute to the success of our clients, and shape the future of not only our business but theirs.\nROLE RESPONSIBILITIES | THE WHAT & THE HOW\nThe Essentials\nSoftware Development\nLead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, robust back-end systems and APIs that meet client requirements and industry standards.\nTechnical Leadership\nProvide technical expertise and guidance to development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.\nSolution Architecture\nCollaborate with stakeholders to define system architecture, identify technical requirements, and design innovative solutions that address complex business challenges. Architect and implement microservices and distributed systems that ensure high availability and performance. Contribute to the migration of services and workloads to AWS, ensuring reliability, security, and performance throughout the transition.\nCode Review and Quality Assurance\nConduct code reviews, perform thorough testing, and implement quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of software applications.\nRequirement Analysis\nWork closely with clients to understand their needs, gather requirements, and propose technical solutions that align with their objectives and budget constraints.\nContinuous Improvement\nStay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software development, and leverage this knowledge to enhance our development processes and capabilities.\nMentoring\nProvide mentorship to junior / less-experienced engineers, helping them grow their technical expertise and guiding them on best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.\nDocumentation\nStrong documentation practices that prioritise practical value over exhaustive detail are essential: maintaining clear, purposeful documentation focused on architectural decisions, system boundaries, and integration points that future team members will actually need, while avoiding docs that quickly become outdated or remain unread.\nTECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or provable, self-taught development skills with a good understanding of how the web works.\n5 - 7+ years of experience in back-end software development, with strong proficiency in .NET (C#) and/or Javaand their associated server-side frameworks and tooling. Proficiency with Ruby on Rails, or React/similar front-end frameworks and meta-frameworks would be an advantage.\nExperience with databases (SQL and NoSQL), such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB, and an understanding of data modelling.\nStrong knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and asynchronous programming.\nHands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly Azure App Services.\nStrong, demonstrable experience with AWS is essential. The client’s platform is undergoing a strategic migration to AWS cloud services, so you should be comfortable designing, deploying, and operating workloads on AWS.
