You'll partner closely with Product, Finance, and Club Operations to translate business needs into systems that are safe, scalable, and built to last.\nOur stack: Ruby on Rails (backend), React + TypeScript (frontend), GraphQL and REST APIs, MySQL / Redis / Sidekiq, cloud-native infrastructure on AWS.\nWhat You'll Do\nArchitect and build core payments infrastructure across online, in-person, and recurring billing flows.\n\nOwn the reliability of money movement: idempotency, webhook processing, failure recovery, and reconciliation.\n\nDrive PCIDSS scope hygiene and keep our financial systems auditable and observable.\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ship features clubs depend on — split payments, deposits, multi-currency, marketplace payouts to coaches and pros.\n\nSet the engineering bar for payments-critical code and mentor engineers across the team.\n\nYou Might Thrive in This Role If You\nHave 8+ years building backend systems in production environments with real operational responsibility and significant focus on payments or financial systems.\n\nHave hands-on production experience with Adyen. Familiarity with Checkout, Terminal API, tokenization, webhooks, or Adyen for Platforms is a strong signal.\n\nHave 3+ years of demonstrable Ruby on Rails experience in production environments.\n\nThink in failure modes: what happens when a payment succeeds but the webhook never arrives?\n\nBring money-safe instincts — idempotency, exactly-once semantics, currency precision, ledger thinking.\n\nHave proven ability to operate high-availability services: monitoring, alerting, incident response, and postmortems.\n\nAre comfortable working in a high-velocity environment while maintaining a correctness-first mindset.\n\nCommunicate clearly and default to async. Strong written and spoken English is a must — we work closely with US-based stakeholders and partners.\n\nEngineering in the AI EraWe expect every engineer at Playbypoint to work with AI as a core part of their craft — not as a novelty, but as a force multiplier across the entire SDLC.
