the Role\nOur client, a growing organization with a mature enterprise technology environment, is looking for an Application Engineer to provide specialized support for its Workday Payroll function, with additional exposure to related Workday modules such as Benefits, Compensation, Talent Management, Absence Management, Time and Attendance Tracking, Integration, Security, and Data Conversion.\nThis role sits within an integrated, Agile-driven support team responsible for keeping business-critical applications running smoothly while continuously evolving them to meet changing organizational needs.\nKey Responsibilities\nServe as the go-to specialist for Workday Payroll, and/or related modules such as Benefits, Compensation, Talent Management, Absence Management, Time and Attendance Tracking, Integration, Security, and Data Conversion\nSupport the full software development lifecycle for assigned business applications\nConfigure, customize, and integrate third-party enterprise software with internal systems (e.g., SAP)\nDeploy and maintain business applications, including minor code updates, debugging, and enhancements\nBuild strong functional knowledge of relevant business processes to translate requirements into practical, implementable solutions\nWork within a cross-functional DevOps team using Agile practices, with an emphasis on structured change management\nProvide day-to-day operational support: troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, resolve issues, implement configuration changes, and monitor system performance\nRespond promptly and proactively to production issues while maintaining a strong customer-service orientation\nMonitor data loads and interfaces, administer system security, and flag opportunities for performance improvement\nCollaborate with engineering peers to resolve both immediate and longer-term system issues\nCreate and maintain clear support documentation\nHelp ensure ongoing compliance with intellectual property and licensing requirements across systems and software\n\nRequired Qualifications\nHands-on exposure to at least one of the following technology areas:\nWorkday tools such as advanced custom reporting, EIB, Core Connectors, PICOF/PECI, Workday Studio, or Workday Web Services\nServiceNow capabilities such as HR Service Delivery (case and knowledge management), system administration, portal/widget configuration, or REST/SOAP integrations\nWorking knowledge of one or more Workday modules: Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Talent, Absence, Time Tracking, Integration, Security, or Data Conversion\nComfort with scripting for workflow automation, and/or experience with low-code development platforms\nSpecific skill in Payroll, or in related Workday modules (Benefits, Compensation, Talent Management, Absence Management, Time and Attendance Tracking, Integration, Security, Data Conversion)\nSolid grounding in software engineering fundamentals\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences\nSharp analytical and problem-solving abilities, with persistence in working through complex issues\nSelf-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, while taking ownership of outcomes\nComposed and clear-thinking under pressure, and adaptable to shifting priorities\nStrong organizational and planning skills, comfortable moving between big-picture and detailed work across multiple concurrent priorities\nFamiliarity with Agile delivery frameworks such as SAFe, Kanban, or Scrum\nA plus: hands-on experience with two or more of the following - C#, C++, Angular, Node.js, SQL, Ansible, R, Java, Python, Azure, web services (WCF/RESTful),
