Software Engineering Manager - Data and Automation - (CI/CD, DevOps, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Angular, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices)

As a Software Engineering Manager within PNC's Data and Automation Technology organization, you will be based in Cleveland-OH, Strongsville-OH or Pittsburgh, PA.

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

• Manage a group of software engineers across one or more product lines; ensure predictable delivery and operational excellence.
• Own execution of the SDLC end-to-end (requirements alignment, design, build, test, release, and support), balancing delivery speed with quality and risk controls.
• Establish and continuously improve engineering practices that raise code quality, reduce defects, and increase reliability (e.g., peer review, automated testing, CI/CD health).

Required Technical Qualifications:

• Hands-on Java expertise, including modern language features and best practices for building maintainable enterprise user interface applications that support MDM master data maintenance.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot (service development, Angular, RESTful APIs, dependency injection, security patterns, and testing practices).
• Demonstrated mastery of SDLC disciplines and quality practices (design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, release readiness).
• Hands-on understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices; ability to guide teams on build/deploy reliability and repeatable delivery.
• Proficiency with git workflows and branching strategies; ability to set standards that support team scale and production safety.

• Manages development projects, development teams and application support functions.
• Oversees multiple application programming and analysis projects which include development, installation and maintenance of application programs.
• Monitors and maintains adherence and compliance to quality standards on an ongoing basis.
• Maximizes staff contribution through professional growth and development, to increase teamwork and more effectively meet business needs.
• Analyzes applications to ensure that all systems that are developed, meet business needs and specifications.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $100,100.00 - $223,080.00Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
