Join our Anchorage, Alaska, office and advance your career with a focus on bridge and waterfront/marine structural design.\nAbout the Role\nAs a Structural Engineer you will:\nLead and assist in the analysis, design, and review of various bridge and waterfront structures, including:Vehicle and pedestrian bridges\nGangways and trestles\nMarine terminals\nHarbors and marinas\nMooring and berthing structures\nPiers, wharves, bulkheads, and quays\nBreakwaters and shore protection structures\n\nOversee the preparation of detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD.\nConduct and manage inspections and condition assessments of existing structures, producing thorough technical reports with actionable recommendations.\nMentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex projects, including site-civil design, surveying, geotechnical engineering, and permitting.\nContribute to project management, client communication, and proposal preparation to support business development.\nQualifications\nWe are seeking candidates with:\nA B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution (M.S. preferred).\nProfessional Engineer (P.E.) licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.\nAt least 4-5 years of experience in structural analysis and design, ideally with bridges and/or waterfront structures.\nProficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA 3D, SAP) and AutoCAD.\nA strong understanding of structural loads, load paths, relevant design codes/standards, and construction practices.\nExperience with structural steel, concrete, wood, and masonry design.\nExcellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.\nA collaborative approach to project work and a desire to mentor junior team members.\nWillingness to travel occasionally for fieldwork and client meetings.\nA valid U.S. driver’s license, a good driving record, and vehicle insurance.\nLegal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.\nBenefits, Perks, and Office Culture\nPND offers one of the strongest benefits packages in the industry, including:\nCompetitive base salary\nAll overtime paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate\nDiscretionary bonuses\nExceptional, employer-funded 401(k) profit-sharing retirement plan-no match required\nComprehensive medical plans\nEmployer-paid dental, vision, and life insurance\nDisability insurance\n18-22 days of paid time off and 9 paid holidays annually\nTuition/education assistance up to $3,500 per calendar year\nOur Anchorage office also values a collegial, connected workplace culture, including biweekly office donuts and bagels and monthly catered all-office meetings, winter and summer holiday parties, and opportunities to participate in community activities.\nAbout PND\nFounded in Alaska in 1979, PND Engineers also has offices in Washington, Oregon, Texas, and Canada.
