The team covers every aspect of vehicle drivability, including longitudinal vehicle controls, vehicle dynamics, braking, steering, and suspension.\nAs a Vehicle Motion Development Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the driving experience that defines a Polestar. Working at the intersection of software, systems engineering, and vehicle dynamics, you will contribute to the development of vehicle motion functions that bring together technical performance, customer expectations, and the distinctive Polestar driving DNA.\nYou will collaborate with a broad network of stakeholders across software development, systems engineering, attribute development, quality, and supplier organizations. The role offers the opportunity to influence vehicle behavior throughout the development lifecycle while working with some of the industry's most advanced chassis and vehicle motion technologies.\nThis position is located at our HQ in Gothenburg. Some travel is required to support vehicle testing and validation activities in different climates and conditions.\n\nWhat you'll do\nWithin Vehicle Motion, software components of the chassis systems are developed, calibrated, and validated to ensure we deliver an exceptional and unique driving experience for our customers.\nFor example, you will:\nConduct vehicle-level tuning and calibration activities on chassis software components to deliver key Polestar attributes and driving characteristics.\n\nCollaborate with software developers, system engineers, and attribute leaders to optimize system functionality and performance.\n\nCoordinate development activities with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.\n\nDevelop Design Verification Methods (DVMs) and test cases to support system validation.\n\nValidate vehicle attributes and system performance in various climates and driving conditions.\n\nDevelop and maintain system function targets and requirements.\n\nCreate and maintain validation plans for both internal and external testing activities.\n\nManage fleet vehicles and associated hardware and software needs, including updates, tunables, spare parts, and consumables.\n\nAnalyze test data and drive continuous improvement of vehicle motion systems and customer-facing attributes.\n\nWho you are\nYou are an analytical and hands-on engineer who is passionate about vehicle dynamics and automotive technology. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and working collaboratively across disciplines to develop high-performing solutions. You thrive in an environment where innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement are part of everyday work.\nTo be a fit for this position we believe you have:\nA bachelors or masters degree in a relevant engineering discipline.\n\n2-5 years of experience within automotive development.\n\nDocumented experience working within the chassis domain.\n\nStrong knowledge of automotive systems and development processes.\n\nExperience with calibration tools such as CANoe, CANape, and INCA.\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\n\nExperience working in an international environment across different countries and cultures.\n\nA valid driver's license.\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills in English.\n\nAt Polestar, you will be part of a cross-functional and international team, with English as a natural language for written and spoken communication.
