This internship offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an industrial life sciences laboratory, with a focus on virus filtration, viral clearance, and bioprocessing technologies.\nThe R&D Intern will take ownership of a defined technical project while working closely with experienced scientists to develop practical laboratory skills, strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and gain exposure to scientific research in the biopharmaceutical industry.\nThis opportunity is ideal for students interested in applying their academic knowledge to real-world challenges while gaining valuable experience in research and development.\nKey Responsibilities\nResearch & Project Execution\nLead a defined research project focused on virus filtration or viral clearance technologies under the guidance of experienced scientists.\nResearch scientific literature, industry practices, and emerging technologies to support project objectives.\nExplore and propose innovative experimental approaches to better understand virus filtration performance and mechanisms.\nPlan, organize, and execute project activities in accordance with established laboratory procedures and timelines.\nConduct laboratory experiments under supervision while following applicable safety and quality standards.\nData Analysis & Documentation\nCollect, analyze, and interpret experimental data with guidance from scientific mentors.\nMaintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and scientific documentation.\nSummarize research findings, identify trends, and communicate technical observations.\nPrepare and deliver a final technical presentation and written report highlighting project results, key findings, and learning outcomes.\nTeam Collaboration & Laboratory Support\nCollaborate with scientists and technical staff to support research activities and project goals.\nParticipate in team meetings, technical discussions, and project updates.\nCommunicate project progress, findings, and challenges to team members.\nAssist with general laboratory organization, equipment upkeep, and maintenance activities as needed.\nComplete required laboratory safety, biosafety, quality, and compliance training.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related life sciences discipline.\nCompleted at least one year of undergraduate coursework.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to accurate scientific documentation.\nAbility to research scientific literature and summarize technical information.\nStrong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.\nWillingness to learn new laboratory techniques and follow established safety procedures.\nWork Environment & Physical Requirements\nWork is primarily performed in a laboratory environment where appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.\nAbility to stand for extended periods while performing laboratory activities.\nAbility to perform light lifting and other physical activities associated with laboratory work.\nWhat You'll Gain\nHands-on research experience in virus filtration and bioprocessing technologies.\nThe opportunity to lead a meaningful technical project from initial research through final presentation.\nMentorship and guidance from experienced scientists and industry professionals.\nPractical experience in experimental design, laboratory techniques, data analysis, and scientific documentation.\nExposure to the research and development processes supporting the biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry.\nOpportunities to develop professional communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.\nThe base compensation range for this role is $18-20/hour.
