Since 1961, we have developed and manufactured specialty chemicals and advanced materials used in life sciences, diagnostics, medical devices, electronics, research, and other demanding applications.\nOur Pennsylvania operations include five facilities supporting manufacturing, laboratories, warehousing, packaging, and technical operations.\nWe're looking for an engineer with manufacturing CAPEX experience to take ownership of facility infrastructure and capital projects ranging from approximately $50,000 to $5 million. This role works in active manufacturing and laboratory environments involving chemicals and associated process hazards.\nProjects range from upgrading critical utilities and aging infrastructure to building new laboratories and supporting manufacturing expansion. It's a hands-on role with significant autonomy, technical variety, and visible results.\nWhat You'll Do\nThis role is designed for an engineer with hands-on capital project experience in a chemical or chemical-intensive manufacturing environment. It is not a commercial building facilities or maintenance management position.\nCapital Projects & Engineering\nLead facility and infrastructure CAPEX projects from $50K to $5MM through scope, design, budgeting, bidding, construction, commissioning, and closeout.\nDevelop project scopes, budgets, schedules, bid packages, and technical requirements.\nSolicit and evaluate proposals; select and manage contractors, vendors, and external engineering resources.\nManage multiple projects, including schedules, budgets, risks, scope changes, and deliverables.\nRecommend capital investments to address infrastructure needs, capacity constraints, reliability, and facility improvements.\nCoordinate projects and shutdown requirements to minimize disruption to manufacturing and laboratory operations.\nProvide management with clear project, budget, schedule, and risk updates.\nFacilities, Utilities & Infrastructure\nProvide engineering support for HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, compressed air, ventilation/exhaust, building controls, fire protection, and other industrial utilities and infrastructure.\nSupport manufacturing areas, laboratories, and technical spaces, including integration of new equipment and facility systems.\nTroubleshoot facility and utility issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop solutions that improve safety, reliability, capacity, and efficiency.\nIdentify aging, obsolete, or capacity-constrained infrastructure and recommend repair, replacement, or capital improvements.\nEnsure projects address chemical hazards, OSHA requirements, building/fire codes, permitting, EHS and Quality requirements, and site procedures.\nParticipate in Management of Change (MOC), project risk assessments, safety reviews, and change-control processes.\nProvide technical oversight of contractors and maintain appropriate engineering drawings, specifications, and system documentation.\nWhat You'll Bring\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline.\nExperience managing facility, infrastructure, and CAPEX projects in an operating manufacturing environment.\nExperience working in chemical, pharmaceutical, specialty materials, coatings, adhesives, cosmetics/personal care, food/ingredient processing, or another manufacturing environment involving chemical processes, chemical hazards, ventilation/exhaust, and comparable EHS requirements.\nAbility to manage capital projects from scope and budgeting through contractor selection, construction, commissioning, and closeout.\nExperience developing scopes, budgets, schedules, technical specifications, and bid packages.\nKnowledge of industrial facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, ventilation/exhaust, controls, fire protection, and utilities.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, construction documents, and facility layouts.\nWorking knowledge of OSHA requirements, building codes, permitting, and industrial construction safety.\nStrong project management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and practical problem-solving skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, EHS, Quality, contractors, and vendors.\nAbility to work onsite and travel between company facilities in Warrington and Horsham, PA, with occasional planned off-hours or emergency support.\nPreferred\nDirect experience in chemical, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, life science, or other chemical-intensive manufacturing.\nLaboratory construction, renovation, or infrastructure project experience.\nExperience with MOC or comparable engineering change-control processes.\nSAP/ERP, CMMS, CAD, or building automation system experience.\nPMP, Lean/Six Sigma, OSHA 30, or PE credentials.\nWhy Polysciences?\nThis isn't a role where you'll simply process work orders or coordinate contractors. You'll identify problems, engineer solutions, recommend capital investments, select the resources to execute them, and see your projects through to completion.\nIf you like ownership, technical variety, hands-on problem solving, and turning an engineering concept into something you can actually walk through when it's finished, you'll find plenty to work on here.","description_format":"text","description_chars":5474,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Biotechnology","Manufacturing","Electronics Manufacturing"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-01T13:51:31Z"}],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":35,"reasons":["conf:2","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-02T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/polysciences-facilities-capital-projects-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/polysciences-facilities-capital-projects-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-03T01:48:19Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1799,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":3201,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-04T00:00:00Z"}}}
