This role delivers complex technical solutions, provides technical leadership within the team, and contributes to architectural decisions and engineering best practices.\nThe Senior Software Development Engineer leads technical design and implementation within their area, mentors other engineers, and helps ensure the systems they work on remain scalable, secure, reliable and maintainable.\nKey Responsibilities\nSoftware Development & Architecture\nDesign, develop, test and deploy complex software solutions.\nLead technical design discussions and guide implementation approaches.\nLead the delivery of complex features and solutions across multiple contributors.\nContribute to architectural decisions and identify technical risks.\nDrive modernisation and technical debt reduction within assigned systems.\nEnsure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure and aligned with business requirements.\nProduct & System Ownership\nOwn the design, delivery and ongoing technical health of assigned systems and services.\nDrive improvements in application scalability, performance and reliability.\nLead investigation and root-cause analysis of complex production issues.\nPartner with DevOps and Platform teams to improve reliability, monitoring and observability.\nContribute to the continuous improvement of operational practices.\nTechnical Leadership & Engineering Excellence\nLead technical discussions and provide guidance during design and implementation.\nConduct code and design reviews and provide constructive technical guidance.\nMentor Software Engineers and support their technical development.\nChampion high standards for code quality, testing, security and maintainability.\nContribute to improvements in engineering practices and development processes.\nFacilitate knowledge sharing and cross-functional technical problem solving.\nAI-Enabled Engineering\nUse AI-assisted development tools across coding, testing, debugging, documentation and code review to improve engineering productivity and quality.\nDemonstrate practical experience with AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows, using them effectively to understand existing code, troubleshoot problems and accelerate solution development.\nApply strong engineering judgement when reviewing AI-generated output, ensuring solutions meet expected standards for quality, security, performance and maintainability.\nActively adopt and promote effective AI-enabled development practices within the team.\nCollaboration\nCollaborate closely with Product Management, Architecture, Support, DevOps and other Engineering teams.\nProvide technical input during planning, estimation and execution.\nCommunicate technical decisions, risks and trade-offs clearly to relevant stakeholders.\nEducation / Experience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n7+ years of professional software development experience.\nStrong TypeScript fluency with significant experience building production web applications and services.\nStrong experience with full-stack application development, including Node.Js, TypeScript/JavaScript, React\nStrong experience designing and supporting scalable production systems.\nExperience with relational databases such as MySQL or equivalent.\nExperience with Docker, including container usage and basic troubleshooting.\nGood understanding of networking concepts relevant to modern web and distributed applications.\nStrong system design, troubleshooting and analytical skills.\nExperience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with cloud platforms, serverless applications and distributed systems, ideally Azure/Azure Functions or comparable technologies such as AWS Lambda.\nFamiliarity with event-driven architectures, messaging and asynchronous processing, including Service Bus or equivalent technologies.\nFamiliarity with NoSQL and caching technologies, such as MongoDB and Redis.\nExperience with CI/CD, application security, observability and modern software delivery practices.\nExperience with Kubernetes and modern UI/design systems such as Material UI/MUI or equivalent.\nExposure to PHP/AngularJS is beneficial for working with existing platform components; Java or C# experience is a plus.\nWho We Are\nWe are a values-driven organisation that encourages our employees to bring their authentic selves to work every day and empowers everyone to make a tangible impact on our products, clients, and culture.
