This is a hands-on role for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys digging into the details, solving problems, and finding better ways to get things done. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will work across financial reporting, reconciliations, inventory, fixed assets, payroll accruals, and month-end close, partnering closely with the Finance team, Operations, executives, and auditors. The right candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in getting the numbers right, and can explain financial information clearly to people outside of Finance. This isn’t a role where you’ll simply maintain existing processes. Controller\nEmployment Type: Full-time\nLocation: Jupiter, Florida, with one day a week in Stuart, Florida\nKey Responsibilities\nFinancial Reporting & Accounting\nPrepare, review, and analyze financial reports to ensure accuracy and provide meaningful insights into business performance.\nSupport the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.\nMaintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, including prepaid expenses, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.\nTrack and analyze revenue and expenses across multiple venues and corporate operations.\nEnsure accounting practices align with GAAP and company policies.\nAccounting Operations & Controls\nOversee the bank reconciliation process, ensuring timely and accurate completion and resolution of discrepancies.\nMaintain inventory accounting records and support inventory reconciliations and controls across locations.\nManage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and supporting schedules.\nAssist with payroll accruals and ensure accurate integration of payroll activity into thegeneral ledger.\nIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and create efficiencies as the company grows.\nFinancial Planning & Business Support\nPartner with the Controller and Finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.\nHelp identify trends, investigate variances, and provide financial information that supports business decisions.\nCommunicate financial information clearly to executives, auditors, and business leaders who may not have an accounting background.\nCollaborate with Operations and other departments to ensure accurate reporting and resolve accounting questions.\nCompliance & Audit Support\nSupport internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.\nAssist with compliance related to applicable tax regulations and reporting requirements.\nHelp maintain organized financial records and documentation to support audit readiness and financial accuracy.\nQualifications\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a multi-location or multiunit business.\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nStrong understanding of GAAP and corporate accounting principles.\nExperience with financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.\nExperience supporting internal or external audits.\nStrong Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems.\nStrong attention to detail and the persistence to understand why something doesn’t balance.\nDemonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt as the business changes.\nAbility to explain financial information in a way that makes sense to people outside of Finance.\nAbility to work from PopStroke’s Jupiter office, with one day a week in Stuart.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCPA or CPA candidate.\nExperience in hospitality, restaurants, entertainment, retail, or another multi-unit environment.\nExperience building or improving accounting processes and internal controls in a growing company.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nThe monthly, quarterly, and annual close is completed accurately and on schedule.\nBank, balance sheet, and inventory reconciliations are timely, accurate, and fully supported.\nFixed asset, inventory, and payroll activity is recorded accurately across every venue.\nVariances are identified, investigated, and explained clearly to the Controller and business leaders.\nAudits run smoothly, with well-organized schedules and documentation ready when needed.\nAccounting processes and internal controls become stronger, simpler, and more scalable as PopStroke grows.\nOperations and leadership see Finance as a responsive,
