This is a non-exempt position.\nAbout Popular Democracy:\nPopular Democracy works to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We work with nearly 50 affiliates across 30+ states, Puerto Rico, and DC to build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations that envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.\nAbout the Position:\nWe are seeking a Development Operations Associate to support and coordinate the work of the Development Team. This position is responsible for developing and continuously improving all fundraising and development operations, with a focus on maintaining donor data systems. The Development Operations Associate will work across the Institutional Giving and Donor Organizing programs as well as with other Popular Democracy teams as needed.\nIt is expected that the Development Operations Associate will travel and attend in-person meetings and events, including staff and team retreats, when necessary.\nWe estimate that candidates will have about 5 years of relevant experience, but our review of candidates for this role will focus on whether they can fill the needs of the position, not years of experience.\nThe Development Operations Associate will report to the Director of Institutional Giving.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nThe Development Operations Associate will:\nManage gift-processing and revenue-tracking systems, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant recording and acknowledgment of online and offline donations, including acknowledgment letters and recording donor pledges. \nServe as a Salesforce resource for the development team by producing routine and customized reports, maintaining data integrity, conducting regular data audit cleanups, resolving duplicate or incomplete records, and supporting consistent data entry practices across Salesforce and EveryAction. \nServe as the first point of contact for all donor inquiries by monitoring and responding to calls and emails, providing assistance, and escalating communication to the appropriate team member.\nSupport donor cultivation and stewardship by maintaining accurate donor records, compiling biographical and prospect research, and capturing notes, next steps, and action items.\nCoordinate Development team operations, including maintaining the grants calendar, team calendars, shared folders, archives, meeting agendas, and action items, as well as supporting the planning of team retreats and other departmental activities.\nManage and submit renewal applications related to charitable solicitation and corporate registrations.\nProvide support to the grant-seeking team, which may include conducting funder research, submitting application materials, and assisting with funder briefings or other donor-facing activities.\nCollaborate across Development and with Finance, Communications, Data, and other teams to advance fundraising priorities, maintain accurate information, and troubleshoot operational or data-related issues.\nSupport fundraising on specific tasks.\nTravel to affiliates and events as assigned.\nOther related duties as needed and assigned.\nThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:\nKnowledge of and experience with Salesforce and EveryAction;\nThe ability to effectively communicate and interact with various audiences including but not limited to staff, institutional and individual donors, board members, vendors, and the public;\nDemonstrated experience balancing multiple projects and deadlines;\nA knack for recordkeeping and documentation, calendar management, and general organization;\nA customer service mindset;\nA demonstrated commitment to social, racial, and economic justice and a deep understanding of challenges facing low-wage workers, immigrant communities, communities of color, disabled people, LGBTQ+ folks, and people at the intersections of the above communities.\nHiring Process:\nCandidates should expect to participate in two rounds of group interviews and a job simulation exercise. Final candidates will be asked to provide references.\nSalary and Benefits:\nThis position is included in a collective bargaining unit represented by the Washington-Baltimore News Guild. Specific employment terms are subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The salary for this category 1 position is determined by a salary calculation system that is set by the CBA and is not negotiable.
