This includes performing installations, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance. The ideal candidate thinks critically, can work well in a team setting, and is a problem solver. Field service technicians are expected to service the west coast, gulf coast south, offshore and east coast service regions. Qualified service technicians are provided safety and technical training with full office support. Once qualified, technicians are assigned a company vehicle, standard tooling, testing equipment, a laptop, phone compensation, and company expense card.\nEssential Responsibilities\nAdhere to Powell’s current safety and quality standards\nComplete all site documentation in a timely manner; including but not limited to, weekly time sheets, signed service and repair order, materials used and report writing.\nProvide regular and clear communication regarding work schedule to Field Operations Scheduler and District Service Manager\nMaintain flexible work hours, which will include over time and periodic weekend support\nMust be available to travel up to 85% of the year.\nComply with Powell‘s standard operating procedures, documentation processes, safety processes and protocols.\nCoordinate with Powell Project management, customers, vendors, and labor support in a professional and customer-centric manner\nAble to work in different roles from supporting the Manufacturing Department within house fabrication, to overseeing small crews on installation projects.\nSwitchgear and PCR installations\nDC / AC Switchgear\nPerform performance testing on Powell equipment and components, including but not limited to; insulation testing (megger testing), Ductor, Hi Potential testing, torque tests and mechanical / functional testing.\nPerform regular inspections of any issued vehicle or calibrated equipment/tools.\nProvide support to services manufacturing group. May consist of construction, installation, wiring and testing.\nDuties will include local and domestic travel, PCR installation, switchgear installation, PowlVac breakers, also trouble shooting, testing and repair of mentioned items.\nMinimum Qualifications\nField service technicians are required to have 8 years as a shop and / or field electrical / breaker technician.\nExhibit basic knowledge of Electrical Industry manufacturing standards. Specific standards include sections of ANSI IEEE C37 applicable to the design and manufacture of breakers and switchgear.\nBasic knowledge of the following: ANSI IEEE device function numbers; ampacities of electrical conductors in switchgear applications\nBasic knowledge of electrical air and surface creepage clearance requirements.\nBasic knowledge in writing accurate and complete test reports, project summaries and has the ability to explain basic anomalies found on a given project.\nPreferred Qualifications\nBasic familiarity with contactor and circuit breaker schematics (Preferred).\nBasic understanding of hi potential testing (Preferred)\nBasic understanding of low resistance testing (Preferred).\nBasic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical functional testing of circuit breakers and electrical switchgear (Preferred).\nNICET Level 1 certification (Preferred).\nHUET / Offshore Survival Training (Will be provided if the candidate is not currently certified).\nNFPA 70E Trained (Preferred / Training can be provided).\nOSHA 10 / 30 Trained (Preferred / Training can be provided)\nSkills, Abilities & Other Requirements\nDemonstrate basic knowledge in the design and manufacture of bus and structural modification projects.\nDemonstrate knowledge of basic electrical theory and control circuits i.e.: Ohm's Law; Basic AC and DC theory.\nAbility to assist other senior level technicians with maintenance, repair, installation, upgrades and retro fills on Powell switchgear and power control rooms\nWorking & Environmental Conditions\nWorking Environment\nThe Field Service Technician typically performs duties in an industrial environment. This position requires services both locally and across the Continental US.
