The Assembler will be responsible for the Assembly of electrical units, switchgear, and other Powell products.\nEssential Responsibilities\nBuild and assemble mechanical components for Switchgear units.\nAssemble Switchgear units as per drawings and instructions.\nRepair identified discrepancies with Switchgear units.\nPromote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.\nEnsures quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.\nEnsure that work areas remain clean and well organized.\nOther duties as required.\nJob Requirements - Core Competencies\nPositive attitude.\nWillingness to learn.\nAbility to follow direction from Senior Assemblers and Lead Assemblers.\nEffectively demonstrates on-time delivery and the ability to stay focused on goals and responsibilities.\nSelf-starter with ability to take on multiple tasks with a drive to succeed.\nChallenges the status quo; looks for better or more efficient ways to get results.\nAbility to adapt to new ideas, technology, processes or product changes.\nBelieves and displays through actions that our customers represent our current success and remain vital to our future growth.\nDemonstrates integrity and ethical decision making.\nConscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks.\nAble to work effectively within your team and around other departments and their activities.\nAbility to learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure adherence to ISO requirements\nMust have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.\nQualifications\nMinimum education level of a High School Diploma is required.\nMinimum 0-3 years’ of experience in a manufacturing environment.\nPrevious experience in Switchgear units is considered an asset.\nAbility to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fraction and metric to imperial).\nKnowledge of machines and tools including their design, use, repair and maintenance.\nBasic computer knowledge considered and asset.\nPrior ability or interest in building or repairing mechanical components considered an asset.\nSafety training certificates are an asset for the position.\nWork Authorization: This is a permanent position. Immigration sponsorship is not typically available and will be considered only where supported by business needs and applicable legal requirements.\nWorking Conditions\nSafety sensitive position in a temperature controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.\nRequired to wear personnel protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.\nMust be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, \"A\" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding.\nWorking at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air on or using proper lift equipment.\nPhysical Requirements\nAble to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.\nBending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.\nContinuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.\nMust be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.\nAble to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.\nUsing upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.\nAbility to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.\nWho we are\nPowell Canada Inc. is a subsidiary of Powell Industries, which is located in Houston, Texas.
