The Painter will be responsible for painting raw steel platforms and various products and equipment. Current openings for day shift (Mon-Thurs 530 am-4 pm).\nEssential Responsibilities\nPaint raw steel platforms and various products and equipment.\nMove platforms and various products using a overhead crane or forklift.\nPerform Wet Painting tasks in a safe and timely manner.\nOn occasion be required to perform general labor and cleaning tasks as directed by your supervisor or leadperson.\nKeep up with routine maintenance procedures and cleaning equipment.\nDocument inspections and paint usage in proper records.\nJob Requirements - Core Competencies\nHigh School Diploma or General Education Diploma preferred\nMinimum of 4 years of experience of wet painting, sandblasting and surface preparation techniques.\nAbility to perform basic math functions.\nProficient with use of Airless and Conventional paint spaying systems with very minimal to no defects.\nKnowledge of wet painting and proper paint mixing technique (ex: two-part Epoxy primer and Polyurethane paint).\nMust have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.\nProficient with use of Steel Grit Blasting equipment and knowledge of basic maintenance.\nAbility to work independently or part of a small team and perform required tasks with little supervision.\nAbility to maintain a clean work area by picking up trash and sweeping the floor and disposing of paints and solvents in appropriate location. Throughout and at the end of the shift.\nAbility to perform and recognize a Commercial Grade Blast cleaning on steel.\nAbility to use a wet paint film thickness gauge and dry film thickness gauge.\nAbility to use a profile gauge to achieve appropriate anchor profile of required blast.\nAbility to recognize and properly repair defects in paint finish (i.e. runs, holidays and orange peel).\nAbility to perform basic troubleshooting functions on Airless and Conventional paint spaying equipment.\nAbility to follow directions, company operating procedure, safety rules and ISO requirements.\nAbility to work up to 12-hour shifts upon request on occasion. Frequently required to work a 6th day (Saturday) during your normal shift.\nWork Authorization: This is a permanent position. Immigration sponsorship is not typically available and will be considered only where supported by business needs and applicable legal requirements.\nWorking Conditions\nSafety sensitive position in a temperature controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.\nRequired to wear personnel protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.\nMust be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, \"A\" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding.\nWorking at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air on or using proper lift equipment.\nPhysical Requirements\nAble to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.\nBending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.\nContinuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.\nMust be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.\nAble to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.\nUsing upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.\nAbility to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.\nWho we are\nPowell Canada Inc. is a subsidiary of Powell Industries, which is located in Houston, Texas.
