This individual will assist in the overall technical evaluation of Commercial & Industrial (“C&I”) solar, energy storage, and EV charging projects for successful execution by the Project Engineering and Project Management teams. This individual must exhibit good time management and organizational skills, as well as demonstrate the ability to collaborate across departments and externally. This individual will be self-starting, motivated, and passionate about the deployment of renewable energy. Occasional travel to client sites should be expected.\nTHIS POSTING IS FOR A CURRENT VACANCY AND THE EMPLOYER INTENDS TO FILL THIS POSITION BY 10/31/26.\nLocation\nThis role would be required to be a hybrid role out of one of our offices (San Diego, CA, Los Angeles, CA. or New York, NY)\nResponsibilities\nDetermine project feasibility of C&I solar PV, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging systems and communicate findings to Business Development team members and clients. \nAssist in submitting interconnection applications and coordinating with utilities and external engineering partners throughout the review process to secure approval and Interconnection Agreements. \nAnalyze utility interconnection results, determine mitigation strategies, and provide costing support. \nResearch and understand interconnection processes, technical requirements and incentive structures across states and utilities nationally. \nSupport the request and review of proposals from external engineering and surveying partners. \nSupport organization by assisting with process improvements and quality assurance under the guidance of senior team members. \nProvide engineering support during non-ministerial permitting activities and work with external engineering partners to submit application packages to AHJs. \nAnalyze site assessments such as rooftop structural reports, civil surveys, ALTA surveys, and geotechnical reports to make determinations on project design and cost impacts. \nHelp build rapport with external utility personnel by learning and understanding their changing requirements and the changing nature of the utility industry. \nPerform site assessments alongside engineering partners that may require driving and possibly using ladders. \nCollaborate with greater engineering team to stay updated on company and client best practices to ensure compliant project design for future construction. \nSupport evaluation of third-party designs and controls schemes. \nQualifications\nEducation/Experience\nB.S. degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering or equivalent experience required. \n1+ years of related experience (preference for renewable energy) \nRenewable Power Distribution Systems experience (Inverter based - Energy Storage & Solar) a plus \nPower system modeling experience is a plus \nExperience integrating with building management systems is a plus \nSkills/Knowledge/Abilities\nStrong communication and time management skills \nAbility to communicate technical issues through clear summaries and presentations \nBasic understanding of procedures and timelines of technical due diligence \nBasic understanding of software tools such as Helioscope, AutoCAD, PVSyst, and Excel \nBasic understanding of interconnection process and incentive structure \nAbility to support forecasting utility and project costs \nAbility to collaborate cross-departmentally and participate in meetings between various stakeholders \nGood multi-tasking ability \nBasic engineering skills \nBasic understanding of technology options for utility interconnection requirements (relays, SCADA, rapid shutdown, DTT, transformers, service upgrades) \nBasic knowledge of powered generators and control system communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, CAN, etc.) \nCompensation\nThe pay range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.\nWorking Conditions\nApproximately 80% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment.
