This is a full-time on-site role where hands-on tasks should be backed by analysis and calculations. Your expertise will drive our company's advancements in clean energy technology and help shape a sustainable future. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to create fuel cell systems that meet performance, reliability, and cost targets. Key Responsibilities\nDesign and develop functional schematic diagrams (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams - P&IDs) for fuel cell/ electrolyser/ heat exchanger gas systems, ensuring alignment with customer specifications, industry standards, safety standards and operational needs.\nConduct fluid flow analysis and thermal system optimisation to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and performance under varying conditions.\nSelect and size key components such as control valves, on/off valves, pressure valves, purge valves, heaters, filters, sub-zero systems, and gas pipes, adhering to performance criteria and safety requirements.\nSelect and size suitable pressure regulators and pressure accumulators to ensure sufficient gas flow and proper operation of the fuel cell system in various operating conditions. The selected candidate should be experienced in reading component data sheets and sizing them accordingly.\nUse predictive modelling tools like MATLAB/Simulink, OpenFoam and other simulation software to evaluate gas flow dynamics, pressure drops, heat exchange, and transient behaviour in the system.\nLead the design of complete fuel cell gas systems by integrating components like valves, gas lines, pressure regulators, pressure relief valves, and accumulators, including component selection, sizing and integration.\nParticipate in the building and testing of the designed fuel cell gas systems.\nDesign and execute comprehensive test plans to validate system performance, durability, and safety under various operating conditions.\nConduct extensive gas system testing and analyse the test data to identify areas for improvement and implement design modifications to enhance system efficiency and reliability.\nDiagnose and resolve system-level issues that arise during testing of the gas system.\nUtilise your experience and knowledge by providing specialised insights and solutions to relevant projects.\nEssential Skills/Experience/Requirements\nBachelor's or Master's in Piping Engineering, Fluid Dynamics Engineering, Gas System Engineering, heat exchangers or a related field.\nExperience working in the field of fuel cells is a bonus (PEMFC, SOFC, Alkaline fuel cell is desirable)\nProficiency in MATLAB/ LabVIEW and Simulink is desirable.\nStrong understanding of at least one of these - Fuel cells (Desirable), boilers, heat exchangers.\nAbility to develop functional schematic diagrams and conduct relevant calculations\nHands-on skills in handling gas systems.\nAbility to present results, citing explanations\nCreative problem solver, proactive and independent.\nYou value honesty and teamwork\nFluent in written and spoken English\nWillingness to relocate to Tallinn, Estonia, is a must.\nAdvantageous Skills/Experience/Requirements\nFamiliarity with fuel cell control systems and algorithms\nKnowledge of fuel cells, electrolysers, heat exchangers, and boilers.\nExperience with system integration and packaging\nHave a keen interest in sustainable energy technologies\nWhat We Offer\nAt PowerUP, you will have a unique opportunity to join a groundbreaking tech startup and contribute to the emergence of sustainable energy technology.
