The Manager, Global SOX Program & Controls Assurance is responsible for the overall governance, execution oversight, quality, and continuous improvement of the Company's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program.

Reporting to the Global Audit Director, this role provides leadership and direction to regional business process SOX and IT SOX Managers (SOX Managers) to ensure the successful completion of annual SOX certification requirements and external auditor reliance objectives.

You will serve as the primary link between Corporate Audit Services, Controllership, Information Technology, external auditors, and management to ensure appropriate risk-based scoping, control coverage, testing methodologies, quality standards, and timely execution across both IT General Controls (ITGCs) and business process controls.

Key Responsibilities

SOX Program Leadership & Governance

  • Own and manage the global SOX testing program supporting management's annual ICFR certification.
  • Establish annual SOX program objectives, timelines, milestones, and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with Corporate Controllership, IT leadership, and Internal Audit management to maintain a risk-based SOX framework.
  • Understand annual SOX planning activities, including risk assessment, financial reporting scoping, location coverage, and key control identification.
  • Ensure consistency of testing methodology, documentation standards, issue evaluation, and reporting across all regions.
  • Serve as the primary Internal Audit leader for SOX governance and program administration.

Execution Oversight

  • Direct and oversee SOX Managers responsible for testing execution.
  • Coordinate with SOX Managers and Internal Audit leadership to deploy audit resources effectively across the annual testing plan.
  • Monitor completion status, resource utilization, issue resolution, and adherence to program timelines.
  • Escalate risks, delays, significant deficiencies, and emerging concerns to senior management.
  • Provide hands-on support and review assistance during periods of elevated workload or critical testing cycles.

Quality Assurance & External Audit Reliance

  • Establish and maintain quality standards necessary to achieve external auditor reliance on Internal Audit testing.
  • Perform oversight reviews of testing workpapers, conclusions, control evaluations, and issue documentation.
  • Drive consistency in testing approaches across business process and IT control environments.
  • Partner with external auditors to align on testing expectations, documentation standards, and reliance requirements.
  • Ensure testing evidence meets both management certification and external audit reliance objectives.
  • Partner with Controllership and IT stakeholders to evaluate changes in systems, processes, acquisitions, divestitures, and organizational structure that may impact SOX coverage.
  • Ensure appropriate testing strategies exist for both manual and automated controls.

Reporting and Communication

  • Develop and deliver executive-level reporting regarding SOX program status, testing progress, control deficiencies, remediation activities, and key risks.
  • Prepare presentations and reporting packages for senior management, controllership leadership, audit leadership, and Audit Committee stakeholders as required.
  • Maintain transparency regarding program health, emerging risks, resource needs, and completion forecasts.
  • Coordinate status updates and issue communications with external auditors throughout the year.

Continuous Improvement & Automation

  • Lead the continuous improvement strategy for the SOX program.
  • Drive increased use of data analytics, automated control testing, and full-population testing techniques where practical.
  • Partner with Internal Audit leadership to enhance audit software capabilities, workflows, reporting dashboards, and testing efficiency.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, automation tools, and AI-enabled solutions to improve coverage, quality, and efficiency.
  • Promote standardization and simplification of testing methodologies across the organization.

People Management

  • Directly manage a team of SOX Managers.
  • Establish performance expectations, development plans, and succession planning for SOX program personnel.
  • Foster collaboration across all regions.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to SOX Managers and auditors supporting the SOX program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
  • CPA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent certification is desirable for this role.
  • 8+ years of experience in SOX compliance, Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk Management, or Internal Controls.
  • 3+ years leading large-scale SOX or controls assurance programs; Prior public accounting experience supporting SOX audits, along with experience overseeing external auditor reliance programs, is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP environments such as SAP; A proven track record of implementing automation tools, analytics capabilities, and continuous controls monitoring processes would be an asset.
  • Strong understanding of SOX Section 404 requirements, Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), the COSO Framework, IT General Controls (ITGCs), automated controls, and business process controls would be advantageous for success in this role.
  • Experience working in a multinational organization across multiple regions and time zones.
