We're looking for a Senior Sterile Services Technician to join our team at Practice Plus Group Hospital Shepton Mallet.\nThis is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of a safe, effective and high-quality decontamination and sterile supplies service. Working within a dedicated team, you'll help ensure that surgical instruments and medical devices are prepared to the highest standards, supporting excellent patient outcomes and maintaining our commitment to clinical excellence.\nAs our Senior Sterile Services Technician, you'll support the Deputy Sterile Services Manager in the day-to-day running of the department, ensuring medical devices are cleaned, inspected, assembled, sterilised and distributed safely and efficiently.\nYou'll undertake a hands-on role whilst also providing supervision, guidance and support to colleagues across the department. This position offers excellent opportunities to further develop your leadership skills while contributing to a service that is critical to the smooth operation of the hospital.\nWhat you'll be doing\nAs our Senior Sterile Services Technician, you will be:\nSupporting the delivery of a safe and effective decontamination and sterile supplies service.\nCleaning, checking, assembling, packing, sterilising and distributing medical devices.\nConducting quality checks to ensure instruments and equipment are fit for purpose.\nSupporting daily validation testing and maintaining accurate documentation and traceability records.\nSupervising, organising and allocating work within the department.\nTraining and supporting new starters and existing team members.\nLiaising with theatre teams and other departments to ensure service requirements are met.\nManaging loan equipment, ensuring timely processing and collection.\nMonitoring stock levels and ordering consumables as required.\nAssisting with rota planning, governance reporting and service improvement activities.\nSupporting equipment maintenance and coordinating repairs where necessary. \nWhat we’ll look for in you\nWith your experience of working within a Sterile Services Department and/or Endoscopy Decontamination environment, you will also have:\nExperience working within a healthcare setting\nStrong understanding of sterile services processes and procedures\nExcellent communication and teamwork skills\nAbility to prioritise workload effectively and work under pressure\nAbility to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams\nNVQ Level 3 in Decontamination or equivalent qualification - desirable\nIDSc Membership - desirable\nExperience working in a fast-paced surgical environment - desirable\nWhat you can expect in return:\nAn annual salary of £26,817\nAn extensive range of wellbeing and lifestyle benefits\n25 days annual leave (increasing with service) plus bank holidays\nMandatory training through our excellent in-house education programme\nThe support you need to grow in your role and continue your professional development\nTo apply for the role, click on the link below.
