PA exists to make it easier for patients and their healthcare providers to find answers to complex clinical questions. We are fully committed to our mission of providing the best diagnostic tools in functional medicine.\nThis position is located in McMinnville, Oregon, in the beautiful Willamette Valley. This is a hybrid role. We are seeking candidates who can work effectively from both a home office and our McMinnville office or other worksites.\nCompensation & Benefits\nAt PA, we base our pay ranges on the market median of similar jobs, as determined by third-party salary benchmark surveys. The salary range reflects the minimum to midpoint of the salary range to provide room for growth. Your individual pay will vary based on skills, experience, and internal equity. During your initial interview with the Talent partner, you can expect to have an open discussion about your pay expectations.\nWith a career at PA, you get:\nMarket-based competitive wage\nBonus potential\n401(k) with employer contribution\nMedical, dental and vision insurance\nCompany-paid life insurance\nWellness program\nOnsite gym\nPaid time off\nHoliday & Floating holiday\nCasual work environment\nEmployee assistance program\nFree DUTCH Tests\n…and more!\nAbout the Role\nWe're rebuilding our architecture from the ground up, and we're looking for a Software Development Engineer to help shape it. You'll design, build, and ship scalable cloud-native applications with a focus on AWS serverless, event-driven architecture, and TypeScript/Node.js, while drawing on solid experience with traditional application architectures too.\nWho You Are\nYou're a hands-on engineer with a curious streak. You've opened up a codebase, asked \"why does it work like this?\", and then actually gone and found out. You're equally comfortable with serverless and traditional architectures, and you know when each one is the right tool. You enjoy hard problems, ambiguous requirements don't rattle you, and you care about how your code connects to the business it serves. When you dig into an existing system, you can tell the difference between what the business actually needs and what someone bolted on years ago as a workaround.\nWhat You'll Do\nMost of your work will be building new systems, and those systems will need to integrate closely with our existing applications and platforms. That means designing clean, well-defined integrations that keep our architecture flexible as it evolves. On our small team you won't be siloed: you'll have a hand in every stage of the software lifecycle, from shaping requirements to shipping to production.\nThis role reports to the VP of Technology.\nMajor Duties and Responsibilities\nHelp shape our new architecture from the ground up, choosing between serverless, containerized, and traditional approaches, and between monolithic and microservice designs, based on what each problem actually needs\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain scalable, cloud-native applications using AWS and modern software development practices\nBuild serverless and event-driven systems using AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, and Step Functions, as well as ECS and Docker containers\nApply distributed-system patterns such as pub/sub, saga, idempotency, retries and dead-letter queues, and CQRS to build reliable and resilient systems\nDevelop infrastructure as code using AWS CDK and/or SAM\nBuild backend services and applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js\nDesign and work with both relational SQL databases and NoSQL databases, including DynamoDB\nApply strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, software design patterns, SOLID principles, and separation of concerns\nUse sound judgment when applying design patterns, recognizing when a pattern improves maintainability and when it introduces unnecessary complexity\nParticipate in Git-based development and pull-request workflows, including code reviews and collaborative problem solving\nBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing, including unit, integration, and characterization testing\nAnalyze existing applications and workflows to understand their business logic, identify the true business rules, and translate them into modern cloud-native designs\nDesign integrations between new services and existing applications and platforms, including data synchronization and migration between database platforms\nMonitor and troubleshoot applications using AWS observability tools such as CloudWatch and X-Ray, along with structured logging and other appropriate practices\nApply sound IAM and cloud security fundamentals when designing and implementing AWS solutions\nCollaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to clarify requirements, explain trade-offs, and make practical decisions\nStay current with emerging development tools, including AI-assisted coding and AI application development, and apply them thoughtfully with appropriate review and testing\nContribute to LLM-powered applications, including RAG pipelines, vector search, MCP servers, agent tooling, and evaluation of LLM output quality, as applicable to business needs\nContribute across the technology stack as needed, including frontend development, infrastructure, data, and direct interaction with users\nQualifications\nRequired\nThe ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional software development experience and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered\nHands-on experience building AWS serverless and event-driven applications, including Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, Step Functions, ECS, and Docker\nExperience designing and building with both serverless and traditional application architectures, and the judgment to know when each is the right fit\nStrong experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, SQL, and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB\nStrong foundation in data structures, algorithms, complexity, software design patterns, SOLID principles, and separation of concerns\nExperience with AWS CDK/SAM, Git, pull-request workflows, CI/CD, and automated testing\nUnderstanding of distributed systems, microservices, and resilient architecture, including pub/sub, idempotency, retries, dead-letter queues, saga, and CQRS\nAbility to work effectively with existing systems, including reverse-engineering business logic and using characterization testing to capture current behavior\nPreferred\nExperience with React/Next.js, Python, Java, AWS observability and security, and software development in healthcare or other regulated industries\nExperience integrating new cloud-native services with established applications, including data synchronization and migration between platforms\nExperience using AI coding tools effectively and critically reviewing generated code\nExperience building LLM-powered applications, including RAG, embeddings/vector search, MCP servers, agent tooling, and LLM evaluation\nFamiliarity with C#/.NET, Angular, Azure, Jira, and Confluence\nWork Environment\nThis position is in an office (or a home) environment with frequent use of a computer and related hardware. A person must be able to stand and/or sit; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools or controls; use hands and arms to reach. Occasionally lifting/moving up to 30lbs is also required.\nIn addition, this position may require a person to travel via car, airplane, and other modes of transportation to various sites including Precision Analytical locations, stores or vendor locations, training or meeting venues, or conferences.\nEEO Statement\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability, or any other factors prohibited by law.","description_format":"text","description_chars":8186,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Home office","Life insurance","Vision insurance"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Education","Health Care","Diagnostic Tests & IVD"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-05T01:55:36Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":73,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.814,"p_room":0.9,"age_days":14,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:0","win:mid"],"computed_at":"2026-10-14T06:34:16Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/precision-analytical-inc-software-development-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/precision-analytical-inc-software-development-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-15T00:25:00Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":514,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-16T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2312674},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2312674"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fprecision-analytical-inc-software-development-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fprecision-analytical-inc-software-development-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fprecision-analytical-inc-software-development-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/precision-analytical-inc-software-development-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fprecision-analytical-inc-software-development-engineer"}]}
