Primary functions include leading technicians, training personnel, specifying and ordering parts, leading and managing projects, collaborating with engineers, and troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and modifying mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical equipment, including PLC, DCS, and multiple systems.\n\nResponsibilities & Duties\nResponsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:\n\nLeadership\nSet the tone for the team’s culture with an emphasis on Safety, Quality, Profitability, and people development. Model the right behavior through actions.\nWork directly with engineering, plant leadership, and operations personnel on projects, repairs, scheduled PMs, SOPs, and related activities.\nManage plant projects, capital projects, and project budgets.\nCommunicate effectively with plant management, engineering, and operations about maintenance and capital project requirements.\nGrow, sustain, and own a competent and complete engineering spares inventory.\nDevelop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.\n\nSafety\nKeep Safety at the forefront of the team’s thinking and approach to work.\nMaintain a clean, safe work environment and a well-organized department.\nEnsure that the engineering team follows LOTO and other safety rules without exception.\n\nQuality\nEnsure the timely and correct execution of projects according to the project schedule.\nDeliver fully functioning equipment that produces usable and qualified product according to Pregis and market expectations.\nAchieve low levels of unplanned machine downtime through effective design.\n\nFinancial Management\nWork with the plant capital list and CAR system.\nManage engineering spend and adhere to budget.\n\nCustomer Focus\nWork with the engineering build group to safely, quickly, and effectively complete tasks with a customer-centered approach. The goal is to minimize downtime and manage negative impacts on service levels to customers.\n\nQualifications\nPreferred qualifications and skills are outlined below:\nMust possess advanced technical knowledge with strong mechanical aptitude.\nMust have five or more years of applicable technical experience, or an Engineering Technician degree with three years of experience.\nMust be willing to travel, typically 20% but up to 50%.\nMust be proficient in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repair and troubleshooting.\nMust be able to troubleshoot and repair problems with PLCs, AC, DC, vector, and servo drive systems.\nMust be able to read, sketch, and understand mechanical, piping, and electrical drawings.\nMust be able to interact cordially and communicate effectively with others.\nMust be willing to update skills as needed.\nMust be hands-on, with an eager desire to get dirty and lead by example.\nMust be willing to work odd hours, overtime, and call-ins.\nMust be able to stand for long periods, stoop, bend, climb ladders, crawl under or over equipment, and lift up to 60 pounds.\nMust be proficient in the safe operation of a variety of power tools and hand tools.\nPosition is located in Granite Falls, NC. Must be willing to relocate.\nMust be able to speak and understand English sufficiently for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers, based on the assumption that these individuals can only speak and understand English.\nAt some sites, bilingual English/Spanish skills will be beneficial for effective communication with numerous plant employees.\n\nMeasurements of Success\nEnter how the employee and manager will know the action steps are completed and successful.
