The Team Lead is responsible for maintaining continuous product quality during production and guiding the workflow by monitoring the packaging work force’s quality inspections and packaging process in collaboration with the assigned QA Inspector. Performs quality inspections at regularly prescribed intervals and documents accordingly across multiple production lines. Helps employees in the department perform their duties correctly. Helps converting team operate at or above designated run speeds. \n\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities\nLead team of Packers for multiple production lines by monitoring performance and providing direction. \nEnsure SOPs are followed during the production process.\nEnsure correct packaging components are in place for each varying job order.\nMaintain integrity of SAP inventory management system and ensure finished good load flags are placed correctly.\nMonitor jobs, including packaging, for defects and inaccuracies per TMS quality standards; correct and report any non-conformities and initiate hold procedure when needed. Collaborate with assigned QA Inspector throughout the shift as needed.\nEnsure Packer rotations and breaks occur per company policies.\nWork with Production Supervisor to determine manning schedules and overtime allocations.\nAccurately update the upcoming shift to ensure a smooth shift handoff; communicate regularly with staff to minimize delays.\nMonitor mailer production, including packaging, for defects and inaccuracies per quality standards; correct and report any non-conformities and initiate hold procedure when needed.\nTrain Packers on Quality Assurance (QA) SOP; regularly conduct audits to ensure quality inspections are being performed. \nWork with Quality Manager and Inspectors and Operations to resolve issues per QA SOPs.\nPerform 6S and SOP audits regularly as required. \nHelp to identify raw material defects, captures relevant information (lot codes, samples,\netc.) and forward to Quality Manager.\n\nEnvironment\nExposure to moving equipment\nInside work\nHeat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit \nHumidity may exceed 80%\nNoise may exceed 85dB+\n\nPhysical Characteristics\nFrequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75%\nFrequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 45 lbs)\nOccasional typing/keyboarding/preparing documents, as needed\n\nPosition Type\nFull time\nShift work (specify hours/shift)\nOvertime expected per business demand\n\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school education or equivalent technical school preferred\n3 to 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment preferred.\nLead or Supervisory experience preferred.\nMust be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (Spanish bilingual a plus)\nAbility to direct a team of employees and facilitate compliance with workplace policies, procedures and rules.
