By conducting root cause analyses and driving corrective actions, the Quality Lab Technician supports continuous improvement efforts to reduce defects and enhance processes. Effective communication and teamwork are essential to this role, as it serves as a critical link between production and quality assurance. The technician’s work safeguards the Pregis brand and reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional, innovative solutions with integrity.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\nQuality Testing and Inspection\nConduct routine quality inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.\nUse laboratory equipment (calipers, measuring tape, micrometer, etc) to ensure product specifications are met.\nMaintain detailed and accurate records of quality checks and testing results.\nPerform first-article inspections and validate production samples.\n\nRoot Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving\nInvestigate non-conforming products and identify root causes of quality issues.\nCollaborate with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).\nMonitor and analyze quality trends to identify recurring issues and propose process improvements.\nParticipate in team discussions to resolve quality-related problems promptly.\n\nProcess and Documentation Compliance\nEnsure adherence to company and regulatory quality standards (e.g., ISO, GMP, or other applicable standards).\nMaintain and calibrate laboratory equipment according to schedules.\nAssist in the creation and revision of quality documentation, including test protocols, work instructions, and quality control procedures.\n\nCollaboration and Communication\nWork closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to address quality concerns.\nProvide feedback and guidance to production teams to improve product quality.\nAssist in employee training on quality standards and procedures as needed.\n\nKey Performance Goals\nMonitor and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as the reduction of quality issues and defect rates.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality.\n\nGeneral Duties\nEnsure a clean and organized lab environment, adhering to 5S principles.\nReport any safety or quality concerns immediately to the appropriate personnel.\nAssist in audits and quality-related investigations as required.\n\nSkills and Qualifications\nStrong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.\nFamiliarity with quality tools such as SPC (Statistical Process Control), root cause analysis, and Pareto charts.\nProficient in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and quality management software.\nKnowledge of safety regulations and standards.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and perform repetitive tasks accurately.\nThis role will focus on reducing quality issues and improving production outcomes through proactive engagement in the manufacturing process.\n\nCompetencies\nTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:\n· Problem Solving / Analytical\n· Organizational Skills\n· Time Management\n· Customer/Client Focus\n· Collaboration / Team Player\n· Report/Procedure Reading and Writing\n· Problem Solving\n\nPhysical Demands\nThis position will require a blend of sitting, walking and standing, and may require the ability to lift up to 50lbs.\nThis position has the following special vision requirements:\nClose vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)\nDistance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)\nColor vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)\n\nEnvironment\nExposure to moving equipment\nInside work\nHeat may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit \nHumidity may exceed 80%\nNoise may exceed 85dB+\n\nPhysical Characteristics\nRepetitive use of wrist, hands, and fingers.\nFrequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75%.\nFrequent bending and some kneeling.\nFrequent use of shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, and ankles.\nFrequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 30-50 lbs.).\nOccasional bending and twisting.\nOccasional reaching.\nOccasional typing/keyboarding/preparing documents, voice- assisted as needed.\n\nPosition Type\nFull time\nShift work 8 hours\nOvertime expected per business demand\n\nEducation and Experience\nHigh School diploma or equivalent required\nMinimum 1 year Quality experience preferred\n\nCompensation\nThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis’s total compensation package.
