The role will lead the preparation of the quarterly financial reporting to lenders and annual U.S. GAAP financial statements. The role will also coordinate the preparation of the annual tax provision and annual tax compliance filings with third-party tax providers and assist with other controllership activities as required. In addition to reporting to the CAO, the role will have direct interactions with the global CFO, segment CFOs, and business unit finance directors. Individual will also work cross-functionally with FP&A and Treasury.Responsibilities\nTechnical Accounting:\nPerform technical accounting research and analysis related to complex transactions and other arrangements. Such transactions may include:\nDebt modifications/refinancings\nSegment and reporting unit analyses\nAnnual goodwill impairment testing\nLong-lived asset impairments\nBusiness combinations\nLease accounting\nTechnical conclusions\nAccounting process(es)\nRevenue recognition\nFixed asset accounting\nInventory accounting\nLead the Company’s adoption of new accounting standards, as necessary\n\nFinancial Reporting\nLead preparation of the quarterly financial statements to lenders, including balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows\nLead preparation of the annual audited financial statements, ensuring disclosures are complete and accurate in accordance with US GAAP disclosure requirements\nEnsure complex transactions (debt refinancings, acquisitions, etc.) are appropriately reflected and disclosed\n\nAccounting Policies and Controls:\nLead project to update the Company’s accounting policies and procedures, including education/training related to changes in policy\nOwner and reviewer of quarterly certification questionnaires\n\nTax:\nOversee the Company’s annual tax provision process\nOwn relationship with 3rd party tax provision provider\nManage PBC process to ensure timely completion of annual tax provision\nServe as liaison between 3rd party tax provision provider and external auditors/tax compliance providers\nOversee the Company’s overall global tax compliance\nOwn relationship with 3rd party tax compliance providers (both domestic and international)\nManage PBC process with 3rd party provider(s)\nReview output from 3rd party providers to ensure accurate filings\nFollow-up with relevant taxing authorities (federal, state, etc.) and ensure timely resolution of tax notices/issues\nOversee/manage the completion of annual transfer pricing studies with 3rd party provider\nEnsure timely and accurate quarterly tax payments\nOversee the quarterly cash tax forecast with 3rd party provider\nAssist in providing guidance on tax implications of proposed business transactions \n\nOther:\nAd hoc involvement in sale process and/or mergers and acquisitions, including:\nDue diligence\nAccounting integration\nPurchase accounting\nSupport various aspects of the year-end audit, including but not limited to:\nCoordination of annual physical inventory counts with external auditors\nAlign with external auditors on accounting treatment for unusual transactions\nAssist in month-end close activities as required (review account reconciliations, review journal entries, etc.)\nOther special projects as required\n\nSkills and Abilities\nStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP technical accounting matters and ability to perform technical accounting research in areas such as goodwill, leases, revenue recognition, and business combinations\nHigh-level understanding of U.S. tax compliance requirements and ASC 740 tax accounting\nExposure to PCAOB audit requirements a plus\nExcellent written and verbal communications skills\nStrong analytical and organizational skills\nDeadline driven with keen attention to details\nAbility to work independently to solve problems\n\nExperience\n5 – 8 years of public accounting or commensurate industry experience\nCPA a must\n\nCompensation\nThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis’s total compensation package. Compensation also includes a competitive benefits package and may also include bonuses, and other on-the-spot recognition.
