You'd be our first dedicated DevOps hire, which means you'll own infrastructure end to end.\nWhat you'll own\nOwn the build, test, and deploy pipeline. Our engineers ship fast; your job is to make shipping fast and safe: progressive rollouts, fast rollbacks, deploy confidence.\n\nMake and enforce our infrastructure as fully reproducible environments via code.\n\nDefine and hit uptime targets our bank customers contractually depend on. Build out monitoring, alerting, and incident response so we find problems before our customers do. Mature our on-call practice from heroics into a system.\n\nWe sell to regulated financial institutions. Change management, access controls, and audit logging need to produce evidence, not just exist. You'll partner closely with our security function on our ongoing SOC 2 and bank due-diligence requirements.\n\nOwn the cloud bill. Growth shouldn't mean linear infrastructure spend.\n\nWhat we're looking for\n5+ years in DevOps / SRE / platform engineering roles; experience as an early or solo infra hire strongly preferred\n\nDeep fluency with a major cloud provider (AWS) and infrastructure-as-code in production\n\nYou've built CI/CD pipelines other engineers loved, not just tolerated\n\nStrong opinions on observability. You've instrumented systems, defined SLOs, and run incident processes\n\nComfortable operating in a regulated or compliance-heavy environment, or eager to learn what that demands (SOC 2, ISO 27001)\n\nYou default to automation and mechanisms over manual process, and you document what you build\n\nPragmatic: you can tell the difference between what a 50-person company needs now and what a 400-person company needs later\n\nNice to have\nFintech, banking, or other regulated-industry experience\n\nExperience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture\n\nDatabase operations experience (backups, migrations, performance)\n\nSecurity-adjacent skills: secrets management, network segmentation, least-privilege IAM\n\nAbout Prelim\nPrelim is a San Francisco and New York City-based startup that operates with fully remote positions across the US, helping banks onboard their customers.
