Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining computer programs, preparing rate and provider reimbursement studies, conducting statistical analyses, producing reports, and performing other actuarial and analytical work. You will develop detailed project plans that define the scope and strategic approach for each analysis. This role requires a strong understanding of departmental objectives and insurance risk, as well as an active ASA or FSA designation.\nThis is a hybrid role, located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.\nWhat you’ll do:\nConsult with department management to establish project goals, work plan objectives, analytical strategies, and timeline requirements for completion of assigned work product.\nRecommend team priorities, analytical work, and responsibilities of project support staff.\nProvide on-going and ad hoc actuarial support to other Premera departments, as appropriate.\nCreate written communication and/or peer review all written communication and analyses of project team.\nConduct peer review and documentation of complex analytical analyses.\nAssess risk and develop analytic strategies.\nProvide data and actuarial calculations relating to the analyses of existing and proposed products and benefits, provider risk pools, stop loss, and administrative costs, as required.\nConduct peer reviews of technical work of analyst team.\nMonitor and review analytical data from various departments for content, accuracy, associated problems, and action recommendations to correct.\nProvide detailed documentation of corrective actions including discussions of effect to Plan results for distribution.\nDevelop and interpret trend data.\nDraft written discussion of interpretation of various actuarial issues and create appropriate analytical presentation of results to support interpretation. Provide peer review of written material developed by project support staff.\nMentor or train more junior analysts or other actuarial staff.\nPresent findings and consult as needed to multiple levels of internal and external client leadership.\nIdentify problem areas in any facet of Plan operations and recommend and/or implement changes to improve operations or help to attain Plan goals.\nWhat you’ll bring:\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or related field, or (4) years of work experience.\n(5) years of experience in health insurance.\nASA or FSA designation.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nAbility to manage projects and people effectively.\nKnowledge of Visual Basic and SQL programming.\nKnowledge of health insurance concepts and terms, including solid understanding of insurance risk.\nStrong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to make decisions and communicate how the conclusion and decision was derived.\nAbility to provide strategic analytical design of projects.\nAbility to work independently and as a member of a team.\nAbility to interact effectively cross functionally, across department lines and with all levels of management.\nStrong attention to detail.\nExcellent communications skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate technical actuarial concepts to non-actuaries.\nExtensive computer experience, including working with complex spreadsheets, databases, and programs.\nProficiency in a computer programming language and aptitude to learn others.
