The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in full-stack web development, middleware/API development, cloud-native architectures, and modern AI-assisted software engineering practices.\nThis is a hybrid role located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.\nWhat you’ll do:\nConsult with business partners and IT leaders to assist in identifying and understanding problems or improvement opportunities and recommend appropriate technologies, software, and system solutions that scale and perform. Consider a system-wide, architectural view of solutions.\n\nAnalyze moderate to high-risk business needs to determine solutions. Design solutions on various platforms by studying requirements and information needs and recommending solution alternatives. Use a variety of system design techniques including prototype, proof of concept, and reference implementation. Design solutions that consider cross-system integration and dependencies.\n\nDevelop and modify code and system set-up based on program specifications using multiple programming languages or system platforms. Apply CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment). Constantly improve systems. Provide technical advice and support to other staff members.\n\nPerform testing using both unit testing test automation and document test results. Participate in testing associated with cross-functional project team efforts.\n\nProduce appropriate technical documentation and notifications for changes to production systems or fixes to production problems. Create SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) artifacts.\n\nAnalyze moderate to high-risk production problems, assess alternatives, and work with team to implement solutions. Includes performance tuning, technical troubleshooting, debugging, call-rotation, and root cause analysis.\n\nSupport project initiatives collaborating with the rest of the design team and stakeholders, ensuring that development milestones and deadlines are met. Provide feedback on peer designs in an open and collaborative environment. Act as technical resource for team and share knowledge across Premera’s developer community. Collaborate with relevant personnel across Premera. May mentor or advise less experienced staff.\n\nProvide input to standardization of IT processes and ensure application of IT standard processes and requirements. Apply engineering best practices.\n\nParticipate in educational opportunities to build new and additional skills and maintain technical knowledge staying current with trends and opportunities in the field, and share knowledge gained with teammates.\n\nWhat you’ll bring:\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.\n\n(5) years of software development experience, knowledge of software development lifecycle, and skills to utilize one or more programming languages.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working with cloud solutions.\n\nExperience in the healthcare industry or another highly regulated environment.\n\nPrevious experience in an agile environment.\n\nExposure to API and service-based technologies.\n\nExperience using and creating automated test tools.\n\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.\n\nFamiliarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).\n\nExperience leveraging AI coding assistants and prompt engineering in software development workflows.\n\nExposure to enterprise systems, customer-facing portals, or large-scale integration platforms.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nHighly proficient skill and knowledge in developing systems and applications to solve business problems in a variety of situations. Successful development and deployment of technology solutions.\n\nHigh quality application of systems coding and development tools and techniques. Strong systems knowledge as well as application of best practices. Ability to adapt rapidly to new technologies and products.\n\nAbility to represent your team to other teams or leaders.
