This role requires you to lead the engineering team to continuously improve the availability and reliability of all equipment and produce products in a safe and cost-effective manner. As an integral member of a small team of engineers on site you will also be expected to be partially hands on to ensure the success of the site.\nJob Scope\nFinancial:\nThe site is managed as a cost centre with a total MCC of £5m.\nVolume:\n1 process line (mill) taking wheat from farm through to finished flour 4 flour packing Lines, 1 yeast packing line 34000 tonnes per year.\nPeople:\n48 permanent employees on site 6 engineers and 1 administrator in direct team.\nKey Contacts:\nFactory General Manager Site Senior team Finance manager (remote based) All on site functions Operations Team at all levels.\nThe successful candidate will:\nComply with relevant Engineering specifications, and Environmental, Health & Safety policies and current legislation.\nDevelop a 5-year maintenance strategy to achieve site and business goals including proactive maintenance in line with overall masterplan and site vision.\nTo develop an implementation plan to deliver the strategy with clear accountabilities, milestones and targets, using best practice tools and techniques\nIdentify compliance and improvement opportunities with respect to equipment upgrade and / or replacement, and manage the capital budget, co-ordinating all capital requests with the central engineering team\nManage the engineering financial budget, which includes energy and utilities, and drive an energy and utilities minimisation program\nIdentify training and development needs for all engineering colleagues, and provide them with the necessary technical expertise and support.\nEnsure legal compliance to facilities management.\nSet priorities for engineering workload in conjunction with operations colleagues\nSpecify and select new / replacement equipment ensuring modern and current thinking has been applied in selection.\nAttendance of Trade Fairs and exhibitions to ensure up to date knowledge of advancements in FMCG automation.\nCo-ordinate the selection, training and development of all engineering colleagues\nPlanning, establishing team objectives to meet schedules and goals, establish and evolve policies and procedures that affect the immediate organization, connect with senior management for team vision and development.\nMentor and coach engineers, encouraging a consistently excellent line management experience for all the engineers in the team.\nCraft the team culture and norms in accordance with Premier Foods Leadership values, identify gaps in being a successful team and act on them. In addition, improve development practices and collaboration within the team and with others outside the team\nBe part of site Leadership Team, providing visionary leadership to the holistic site.\nThink Big around future site improvements in relation to automation.\nImplement bast class engineering excellence into the site.\nManage subcontractors including outsourced spares team.\nMonitor KPI's making sure that production and engineering functions are efficient.\nWhat we need from you:\nQualifications:\nBEng Degree (Mech, Elec, Mnf) or BEngTech / HCEng / City and Guilds (Mech, Elec, Mnf).\nEssential:\nMinimum of 5 years experience in an FMCG engineering management position.\nManagement of a team of 7\nStrong leadership and change management skills evidenced within a trade union environment\nProven track record of improving availability levels of production equipment\nKnowledge and understanding of modern maintenance practices.\nFinancial acumen\nAbility to manage people performance, coaching and development of a team\nBasic financial awareness, understanding of business drivers, budgeting processes.\nAbility to analyse data and review trends. \nExcellent time management skills.\nDesirable:\nNEBOSH/ IOSH.\nPrince 2 or project management qualification. \nFormal CI qualification i.e. six sigma black belt.\nWhat we offer in return:\nSalary of up to £55,000 per annum\nUp to 7.5% pension contribution\nLife assurance\nFree on site parking\nAccess to \"The Hamper\", with discounts at hundreds of nationwide retailers\n25 days annual leave plus bank holidays\nEmployee Assistance Programme, Occupational Health and Other Health & Wellbeing Benefits\nSharesave Scheme\nOther salary sacrifice benefits\nAt Premier foods we believe in inclusion, authenticity and individuality.
