Reports: Branch Operations, Customer Service, Sales and Relationship Management Teams\n\nJob Purpose\n\n The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, business growth, customer experience, and profitability of the branch\n\n The role involves driving deposit mobilisation, loan growth, customer acquisition and retention, while ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, risk management, and adherence to the bank’s policies and procedures.\n\n The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to the branch team, strengthen customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, and ensure the achievement of agreed financial and operational targets.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nBusiness Development and Revenue Growth:\n\n Develop and implement branch business plans aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives.\n\n Drive deposit mobilisation, customer acquisition, lending, and other revenue-generating activities.\n\n Identify new business opportunities across retail, SME, and corporate customer segments.\n\n Build relationships with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, corporate clients, and other key stakeholders.\n\n Monitor branch performance against approved budgets, revenue targets, and business development KPIs.\n\n Develop strategies to improve market share, customer retention, and branch profitability.\n\nBranch Operations and Service Delivery:\n\n Oversee daily branch operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with established procedures.\n\n Ensure effective transaction processing, cash management, account opening, and customer service delivery.\n\n Monitor service turnaround times and resolve escalated customer complaints.\n\n Ensure adequate controls over cash, vault operations, transaction limits, and other branch assets.\n\n Coordinate with relevant departments to resolve operational issues and improve service delivery.\n\nCredit and Risk Management:\n\n Oversee the branch's credit activities, including loan origination, credit appraisal, disbursement, and portfolio monitoring, within delegated authority.\n\n Ensure proper assessment of customer creditworthiness and compliance with the bank's credit policies.\n\n Monitor loan repayment performance, non-performing loans, and early warning indicators.\n\n Implement appropriate controls to minimise operational losses, fraud, and financial misconduct.\n\n Ensure compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) requirements.\n\n Identify, report, and escalate suspicious transactions, control breaches, and other risk exposures.\n\nCustomer Relationship Management:\n\n Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.\n\n Promote the bank's products and services to meet customer needs and deepen existing relationships.\n\n Ensure prompt resolution of customer complaints and service delivery challenges.\n\n Drive customer satisfaction, loyalty, retention, and cross-selling opportunities.\n\n Represent the bank at relevant business meetings, community engagements, and networking events.\n\nETeam Leadership and Performance Management:\n\n Lead, supervise, and motivate branch employees to achieve individual and collective targets.\n\n Set performance objectives and monitor staff productivity against agreed KPIs.\n\n Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and capability development initiatives.\n\n Promote accountability, teamwork, ethical conduct, and a strong customer-service culture.\n\n Identify staffing and training needs and recommend appropriate interventions.\n\n Ensure compliance with the bank's HR policies, attendance requirements, and disciplinary procedures.\n\nRegulatory Compliance and Internal Controls:\n\n Ensure the branch operates in line with applicable Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations and other relevant regulatory requirements.\n\n Enforce internal policies, standard operating procedures, and approved control frameworks.\n\n Coordinate internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.\n\n Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and implementation of corrective actions.\n\n Maintain accurate branch records, documentation, and statutory reports.\n\n Promote a strong compliance culture and ensure that employees understand their regulatory responsibilities.\n\nReporting and Performance Monitoring:\n\n Prepare periodic reports on deposits, loans, revenue, customer acquisition, profitability, and operational performance.\n\n Analyse branch performance and implement corrective measures where targets are not achieved.\n\n Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.\n\n Provide management with recommendations on business expansion, risk mitigation, and operational improvements.\n\n Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of required management and regulatory reports.\n\nKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)\n\nPerformance will be assessed against agreed business objectives, including:\n\n Deposit mobilisation and growth.\n\n Loan portfolio growth and quality.\n\n Branch revenue and profitability.\n\n Achievement of sales and business development targets.\n\n New customer acquisition and existing customer retention.\n\n Cross-selling and product penetration.\n\n Customer satisfaction and complaint resolution turnaround time.\n\n Loan repayment performance and non-performing loan ratio.\n\n Operational efficiency and transaction accuracy.\n\n Audit ratings, compliance performance, and resolution of audit findings.\n\n Staff productivity and achievement of individual targets.\n\nQualifications and Experience\n\n Bachelor's Degree in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.\n\n Relevant professional qualification, such as ACIB, ACA, ACCA, or another recognised banking or finance certification, will be an advantage.\n\n Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant banking experience, with substantial experience in branch banking, relationship management, sales, or branch operations.\n\n At least 3–5 years in a supervisory or management position within a financial institution.\n\n Demonstrated track record of achieving deposit mobilisation, revenue generation, customer acquisition, and profitability targets.\n\n Strong understanding of banking operations, credit management, risk controls, and regulatory compliance.\n\n Experience
