Position Overview

Prep Academy Tutors of Los Angeles is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate SAT Tutor - ALL SUBJECTS to provide personalized, one-on-one instruction to high school students preparing for the SAT.

Our SAT Tutors work closely with students to strengthen their Math, Reading, and Writing skills, develop effective test-taking strategies, and build the confidence needed to perform at their highest level. Instruction is tailored to each student’s academic needs, learning style, and testing goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one SAT preparation in Math and/or Reading and Writing
• Assess students’ academic strengths, areas for improvement, and test-taking needs
• Develop individualized SAT learning plans based on student goals and assessment results
• Teach SAT-specific strategies, time-management techniques, and approaches to different question types
• Help students build confidence and develop effective independent study habits
• Assign and review targeted practice activities and monitor student progress
• Track student performance and provide regular updates to families
• Adjust instruction based on practice test results and ongoing student needs
• Foster a positive, encouraging, and professional learning environment
• Travel to students’ homes throughout the Los Angeles, California area

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Strong subject-matter expertise in SAT Math and/or Reading and Writing
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience, preferably with high school students
• Experience preparing students for standardized tests is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with the current SAT format, question types, and scoring is preferred
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Reliable transportation
• Authorized to work in the United States

Schedule & Availability

Tutors create schedules based on their availability and student demand. Sessions may take place after school, evenings, and/or weekends.

Requirements

A qualified applicant will have a bachelor’s degree and will also meet at least one of the following criteria:

• You hold a valid California teaching certificate or the equivalent thereof
• You are a current student teacher pursuing a teaching certificate
• You have 2 or more years of experience as a classroom teacher in a private, public, or charter school
• You have experience as a lecturer/course instructor at an accredited U.S. university or college
• You are a Master’s/PhD student with experience as a teaching assistant at an accredited U.S. university or college
• You have demonstrated experience tutoring or teaching high school students in SAT Math, Reading, and/or Writing
