This is a hands-on, onsite role based in our Richmond, BC office, with participation in an after-hours support rotation.\nIn this role, you will:\nInfrastructure & Systems Administration\nOwn complex infrastructure issues and provide technical recommendations that improve reliability, performance, and scalability. \nImplement, maintain, and monitor Windows and Linux server environments within our onsite hybrid data center. \nSupport technologies including Failover Clusters, Hyper-V Replicas, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, VPNs, and Remote Gateway servers. \nInstall, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise workstations, servers, hardware, and related software in accordance with established procedures. \nDeploy and administer iSCSI, NAS, and other enterprise storage solutions. \nSupport backup and disaster recovery processes, including regular restoration testing and validation. \nMaintain accurate documentation for system and network architecture, configurations, procedures, and related technology policies. \nNetwork & Security\nConfigure, support, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN tunnels. \nWork with technologies such as Cisco, SonicWall, and Fortinet. \nApply security best practices using ISO 27001 and CIS guidance as appropriate. \nApply, test, and verify critical firmware, operating system, and security patches. \nPartner with the incident response team to support server and endpoint security. \nMonitor and investigate endpoint, server, and infrastructure security alerts. \nReview Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID logs and respond appropriately to suspicious activity. \nProactively identify infrastructure and security risks before they become incidents. \nMonitoring, Incident Response & Reliability\nMonitor server, network, and infrastructure performance to proactively identify and resolve issues. \nCreate, maintain, and audit monitoring and alerting as infrastructure and performance requirements evolve. \nMonitor system utilization, outages, performance trends, and end-user requests, escalating issues to the appropriate teams when required. \nParticipate in an after-hours on-call rotation, responding remotely to critical alerts and infrastructure incidents, including server outages, monitoring alerts, and other urgent technical issues. \nTroubleshoot and resolve critical incidents outside regular business hours when required; onsite response may occasionally be needed for rare, high-severity situations. \nAutomation & Continuous Improvement\nUse PowerShell and Bash scripting to automate system administration, user administration, and routine operational tasks. \nWork with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to support infrastructure deployment and management. \nIdentify opportunities to improve systems, processes, automation, and architecture rather than simply maintaining the status quo. \nLead or significantly contribute to infrastructure and technology improvement projects. \nTechnical Support & Team Collaboration\nProvide Tier 2/3 technical support to head office employees, global team members, and digital publishing partners. \nTake ownership of technical issues through to resolution. \nTranslate technical concepts clearly for non-technical users and help employees develop strong technology and security habits. \nMentor and support less experienced IT team members by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and contributing to their technical development. \nCollaborate closely with a supportive team of technical specialists and cross-functional partners. \nYou are a great fit if you have:\n5+ years of hands-on Systems Administration experience managing and supporting production environments. \nProven experience supporting systems where uptime, security, reliability, and data integrity are critical. \nStrong experience working across hybrid infrastructure environments, including both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure systems. \nStrong knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID. \nExperience administering Windows and Linux environments, with familiarity supporting macOS. \nSolid understanding of enterprise networking and the ability to troubleshoot connectivity, routing, firewall, and VPN issues. \nHands-on experience with security practices such as MFA, patch management, endpoint protection, system hardening, and access control. \nWorking knowledge of security technologies including firewalls, endpoint protection, antivirus, antispam, and related security tools. \nExperience with IT service management practices, including incident, change, and configuration management. \nExperience using PowerShell and Bash for automation and systems administration. \nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently. \nStrong communication and customer service skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. \nThe ability to prioritize effectively, work across multiple competing priorities, and remain composed in high-pressure or ambiguous situations. \nA proactive, ownership-oriented mindset and the ability to identify risks and improvement opportunities before they become larger issues. \nA commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies, security practices, and infrastructure trends. \nStrong hands-on experience with IT security operations, including monitoring, incident response, patch management, endpoint protection, and access controls. \nBonus points if you:\nHave a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. \nHave experience participating in security or compliance audits. \nHave experience working directly with security, risk, or compliance teams. \nHave experience leading technical projects or coordinating cross-functional technology initiatives. \nHave acted as a technical lead or mentor to other IT professionals. \nHave hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code. \nHave experience working with Cisco, SonicWall, and/or Fortinet technologies. \nHave a strong interest in technology and enjoy continuously improving how systems and infrastructure operate. \nWhy us for your next career adventure?\nThis two-year full-time role is based in our Richmond, BC office and requires to be on-premises full-time, 5 days a week.
