You will lead governance operating models, policies, metadata and catalog initiatives, data quality management, and privacy/security controls-working closely with stakeholders in Data/Analytics, Engineering, Security, Risk, Legal, and business domains across the Middle East.\nKey Responsibilities\nStrategy and Operating Model\n\nDefine a pragmatic data governance strategy aligned to client business outcomes.\n\nEstablish governance operating models (councils, RACI, data owner/steward roles).\n\nDevelop andmaintainpolicies, standards, and procedures (quality, metadata, classification, access, retention).\n\nMetadata, Catalog, and Lineage\n\nStand up and administer enterprise data catalogs and business glossaries.\n\nIdentifyand manage critical data elements (CDEs) and data domains with clear ownership.\n\nDrive metadata standards and automated lineage for impact analysis and change control.\n\nData Quality Management\n\nDefine data quality dimensions, rules, thresholds, and SLAs for priority datasets.\n\nImplement monitoring, alerting, and issue management; drive RCA and remediation.\n\nPartner with engineering to embed quality checks into pipelines and data contracts.\n\nPrivacy, Security, and Compliance (Middle East focus)\n\nImplement data classification and handling standards; support privacy-by-design.\n\nPartner with Security/IAM on RBAC/ABAC, masking, encryption, and least-privilege access.\n\nSupport compliance with regional and international regulations, such as:\n\nEgypt Personal Data Protection Law (Law 151/2020)\n\nKSA PDPL, UAE Data Protection Law, Bahrain PDPL, Qatar PDP Law\n\nGDPR/CPRA (as applicable to client operations)\n\nSectoral requirements (e.g., SOX, PCI DSS, HIPAA where relevant)\n\nAdvise oncross-border data transfer, residency, and sovereignty considerations.\n\nLifecycle and Risk\n\nDefine retention/disposal schedules, archival practices, and defensible disposition.\n\nReview new data sources, sharing agreements, and vendors for governance and risk impacts.\n\nChange Management and Adoption\n\nLead governance councils and steward communities; drive accountability and adoption.\n\nDeliver communications, training, and data literacy programs to uplift capabilities.\n\nReporting and KPIs\n\nBuild governance scorecards covering DQ health, lineage coverage, glossary adoption, and policy compliance.\n\nReport progress and risks to client executives and audit/compliance stakeholders.\n\nTools and Enablement\n\nEvaluate, implement, and manage governance tooling (catalog, DQ, lineage, MDM).\n\nCreate playbooks, templates, and self-service guides to scale best practices.\n\nConsulting and Practice Development\n\nContribute to proposals, SOWs, and solutioning; estimate effort and plan deliveries.\n\nCoach junior team members; contribute to accelerators and thought leadership.\n\nWhatYou’llBring\n5+ years in data governance/data management, with at least 2 years leading multi-stakeholder initiatives; consulting experience preferred.\n\nStrong grounding in DAMA-DMBOK and/or DCAM, and practical experience with:\n\nData ownership/stewardship models and governance forums\n\nData cataloging, business glossary, and lineage\n\nData quality frameworks and issue management\n\nData classification, access governance, retention, and lifecycle\n\nHands-on experience with relevant tools and platforms (one or more):\n\nCatalog/metadata: Collibra, Alation, Informatica Axon/EDC, Atlan, Microsoft Purview\n\nData quality/observability: Informatica IDQ, Great Expectations, Monte Carlo, Bigeye\n\nMDM: Informatica, Reltio,Semarchy\n\nLineage: Built-in catalog lineage, MANTA,OpenLineage\n\nCloud/data platforms: Azure (incl. Purview), AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks; strong SQL\n\nUnderstanding ofIAM concepts (RBAC/ABAC), masking/tokenization, API governance, CDC/event schemas, and data-sharing patterns.\n\nFamiliarity with ISO 27001, NIST CSF, SOC 2 is a plus.\n\nExcellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.\n\nEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, or related field; advanced degree/certifications (CDMP, DCAM, Collibra Ranger, CIPP/CIPM/CIPT) are a
