What You’ll Do

We want you to feel challenged and inspired. Here, you’ll develop your skills across a range of responsibilities:

• Lead the coordination, review, and submission of indirect tax and statistical returns across multiple international markets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local requirements.
• Manage indirect tax payments, refunds, and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and within required deadlines.
• Partner with external advisors and internal stakeholders to meet indirect tax compliance obligations and support the efficient delivery of tax reporting activities.
• Support indirect tax audits and contribute to advisory and planning projects, including new market and entity rollouts across the Primark Group.
• Drive continuous improvement by reviewing processes, identifying efficiencies, and enhancing systems and controls to support compliance requirements.
• Provide leadership and development support to the Indirect Tax Compliance team, including managing two Finance Associates, coaching colleagues, and fostering a high-performing team environment.

What You’ll Bring

Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued - so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:

• Professional accounting or tax qualification (CTA, ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent preferred), with experience preparing and reviewing VAT/sales tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong indirect tax compliance knowledge, with exposure to international markets; US indirect tax experience is an advantage.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to support, develop, and motivate team members while building effective relationships across the business and with external partners.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with a meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.
• Strong project management, planning, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure, and consistently deliver to deadlines.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Oracle is beneficial, and proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
